Service dog Colgate and his partner Callie work out in public that includes shopping and going out to eat. Colgate travels comfortably in Callie's accessible van, learning how to get in and out safely. While shopping Colgate ignores the public and navigates aisles with Callie. When it's time to eat, Colgate lies quietly beside Callie while ignoring all the yummy food. He is always alert though, just waiting for her to need his help with something.

Service dog Colgate and his partner Callie practice obedience commands and skills at home before trying them in public. It’s clear that Colgate loves to work, and Callie is happy to regain some independence after losing her service dog George seven months ago. George was set to retire once Colgate was ready to start working with Callie, but sadly he passed away before that could happen. Since then, Callie has relied on her family for help. Colgate has some big paws to fill, but he seems eager to give it his all.

Service dog Colgate and partner Callie are learning how to navigate through doorways and her assessible vehicle together safely. This is important to work on before going out into public.

Service dog Colgate and Callie are working on their routine that includes grooming, having good table manners and going out in their neighborhood for walks. If you are not from the midwest, you might not recognize the sound of cicada. They are crazy right now but Colgate has finally gotten used to them.

Service dog Colgate is settling in nicely with his new partner Callie in Kansas, where the humidity is much higher than he’s used to. They enjoy playing outside with toys, practicing moving around the house together, and relaxing. While Callie has had several service dogs before, Colgate is new to her home and routine, and she’s learning when he needs to work, play, and rest so they can thrive as a team.

Service dog Colgate has his day at the spa while his partner Callie and trainer Justine watched. His new groomer loves him, and he was sure to give her some kisses too!

Service dog Colgate traveled with trainer Justine to KS via airplane to begin his placement with his partner Callie. They begin their partnership with hand feeding, grooming and learning to move together safely inside and outside. The trainer is there to make sure every experience is positive and that all the correct commnds are being used.
We are excited to watch this partnership happen over the next two weeks!

Service dog in training Colgate is ready to travel to begin his placement with Callie in Kansas! Colgate was donated by Waterman Creek Pointing Labs, IA and sponsored by Bob & Jill Jensen, WY. He was lovingly raised by the Hickman and Bolinger families!
Colgate traveled with trainer Justine from Denver to Kansas City airport. He handled himself just like a professional through security, riding the train and the one and half hour flight (that turned into three hours due to weather).
Keep updated on Colgate's placement over the next two weeks right here and learn how he is making a difference in the life of his new partner.
