π Happy Birthday to our Board President, Brittany Hankinson McGovern!
Today, we celebrate a leader whose impact on Wyoming's disability community reaches far beyond any single title or role.
Brittany joined The Arc of Laramie County's board in 2017, served as Vice President from 2019β2024, and stepped into the role of Board President on January 1, 2025. But her connection to our mission is personal: Brittany is the proud mother of Arc member Tina. She doesn't just understand the systems families navigate β she's navigated them herself.
And her reach extends across the entire state.
Executive Director, Wyoming Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities (WGCDD)
Brittany leads the governor-appointed council dedicated to promoting choice, independence, and full inclusion for people with developmental disabilities across Wyoming. In this role, she works at the systems level β shaping policy, expanding opportunities, and ensuring that the voices of self-advocates and families are heard at the highest levels of state government.
EFMP Family Support Coordinator, F.E. Warren Air Force Base
Since 2018, Brittany has served military families with exceptional family members at F.E. Warren AFB. She's the focal point for connecting service members and their families to disability resources, support services, and community connections β bridging the gap between the military and civilian disability communities in Cheyenne.
Consumer Advisory Council Member, Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND)
Brittany also serves on WIND's Consumer Advisory Council at the University of Wyoming, championing disability awareness and advocacy at the state's research and training center for developmental disabilities.
With over 18 years of professional experience serving the disability community and dual bachelor's degrees in Psychology/Child Development and Physiological Psychology/Developmental Disabilities, Brittany brings rare expertise to everything she does. Her husband Brandin is a retired Air Force firefighter, and together they moved to Wyoming as a family in 2017.
From our local Arc chapter to the Governor's office, from F.E. Warren to the University of Wyoming, Brittany Hankinson McGovern shows up for people with disabilities at every level. Her leadership, advocacy, and tireless commitment make Wyoming a better place.
Happy birthday, Brittany. We're grateful to have you at the helm. π
