Now that we have made it through our emergency updates, we wanted to share with you some more details about the toll that the storm last week took on our campus in Indiana Dunes National Park.

The DLC campus was the hardest hit area of the park, enduring intense winds (🌪tornado?) that we have never experienced. Crews have been working non stop to restore our campus, and we are extremely grateful that we are only losing one day of overnight camp.

Most importantly of all, everyone was safe, all of the campers’ cabins were untouched and they are all still good to go.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding while we have been working to make sure that kids are able to get back to camp as quickly as possible. ⛺

UPDATE AS OF 10:00 AM MONDAY JUNE 15

We are pleased to share that power has been restored to the DLC campus and our team is busy preparing for the arrival of our campers!

At this time we plan for Dunes Discovery Camp to begin on Tuesday, June 16, at 9am.

We do not plan to provide further updates at this time but should anything vary from the plan of beginning camp tomorrow (Tuesday) morning at 9am, it will be communicated by email and we will keep our emergency alert page up to date.

UPDATE AS OF 7:00 PM CDT SUNDAY JUNE 14 2026

Repairs are in progress, and we expect power to be restored to the DLC campus this evening (Sunday).

At this time we plan for Dunes Discovery Camp to begin on Tuesday, June 16, at 9am, as long as the power is restored and the roads are open.

Further updates will be sent by email and SMS as they are made available and we will keep our emergency alert page up to date with the next expected update to be posted by 10am tomorrow, Monday, June 15.

⚠️ Dunes Discovery Camp at Dunes Learning Center will be delayed by at least one day due to conditions following the recent storms.

The Dunes Learning Center was unfortunately the hardest hit area of the entire Indiana Dunes National Park. Folks have been hard at work remediating damage and clearing the debris, and we are making great progress.

However, we cannot safely open camp without power in place before campers arrive. We are hopeful that power will return tomorrow, Monday, June 15, where we will be able to prepare the space for camp to start the following day, this Tuesday, June 16.

We'll share updates here and on our website as they become available.
