🥷☀️ NinjaZone and Baby Ninjas Are Taking Over Summer at the Duneland Family YMCA Healthy Living Campus! ☀️🥷

Our FREE June NinjaZone sessions have been a huge hit, and we can't wait to see those smiling faces back in July and throughout the rest of the summer!

Whether your child is just getting started or ready to tackle bigger obstacles, we have a program for every young ninja:

🥷 Baby Ninjas (18 months to 3 years)
🥷 Lil Ninjas (Ages 3 to 5)
🥷 NinjaZone (Ages 5 and up)

When you register for NinjaZone, your child will receive their very own ninja uniform and be ready to jump, climb, roll, swing, balance, and conquer exciting challenges each week.

NinjaZone is the ultimate summer activity for kids with energy to spare. They'll build confidence, coordination, strength, and focus while staying active in a fun and safe environment. Best of all, they'll leave each class feeling accomplished and ready for a well earned rest!

COACTION EXPANDS COMMUNITY ACCESS THROUGH DUNELAND FAMILY YMCA HEALTHY LIVING CAMPUS

CoAction, Northwest Indiana's Community Action Agency, is expanding access to critical resources through a new presence at the Duneland Family YMCA Healthy Living Campus (Duneland YHLC), creating a convenient location where Duneland area residents can connect with essential support services close to home.

CoAction serves individuals and families from infancy through older adulthood who are experiencing financial hardship, working to create a Northwest Indiana where people can flourish regardless of income, ability, or age.

Residents who contact CoAction and require in-person assistance will have the opportunity to meet with CoAction staff at the YMCA Healthy Living Campus. In addition to serving clients, the space will provide a convenient location for collaboration with local organizations, strengthening the network of support available to the Duneland community.

"This space gives our team a home base in Chesterton while still keeping our work rooted in the community," said Jen Trowbridge, CEO of CoAction. “It allows us to meet people where they are while also welcoming them into a space designed for collaboration and support.”

Through its comprehensive network of programs, CoAction helps individuals and families achieve greater stability and independence by connecting them with housing resources, financial assistance and coaching, nutrition support, and services for older adults and individuals with disabilities. From helping families secure safe and affordable housing to assisting seniors in maintaining independence and addressing food insecurity, CoAction's work focuses on empowering neighbors and building stronger communities.

"We are excited to welcome CoAction to the Duneland Family YMCA Healthy Living Campus,” said Amy Curtis, Senior Director of Programs and Partnerships for the Duneland Family YMCA. “With their wide spanning services from preventative health programs to housing support to senior focused initiatives, they provide immense support and value to people all across northwest Indiana, and we're thrilled they've selected our facility as a place to connect with and serve the community."

The addition of CoAction at the Duneland Family YMCA Healthy Living Campus reflects a shared commitment to building a stronger, healthier community. By increasing access to essential resources and creating new opportunities for collaboration among local organizations, this effort will help support individuals and families throughout the Duneland area for years to come. Our community showed up in a big way, and we're so grateful! 💙

Thanks to your generosity, we've already collected and shared athletic clothing with YMCA members who needed it most. The response has been incredible, but our donation rack is running low on a few key items, and we're asking for your help once again.

We're currently in need of:
✔ T shirts
✔ Long sleeve shirts
✔ Women's athletic shorts
✔ Men's clothing items of all sizes

All donated items should be clean and gently used.

Drop off donations at the Duneland YMCA front desk and help ensure everyone has access to comfortable clothing that supports an active, healthy lifestyle.

Investing in Our Community Starts with Investing in Our People 💙

A few members of the Duneland YMCA leadership team recently attended a presentation hosted by our partners at First Things First Porter County featuring keynote speaker Dr. Dana Suskind.

Dr. Suskind, a pediatric physician and nationally recognized researcher in early childhood brain development, shared powerful insights on the importance of human connection and the critical role parents and caregivers play as their child's first and most influential teachers. Her research-based framework, Tune In, Talk More, Take Turns, highlights how simple, everyday interactions can have a lasting impact on a child's growth, learning, and future success.

Her passion for supporting children and families closely reflects the YMCA's mission and values. Experiences like these not only inspire and strengthen our staff, but also deepen community partnerships and help us continue creating meaningful opportunities for the children and families we serve.

At the Duneland Family YMCA, we're proud to have passionate educators who help children build a strong foundation for lifelong learning!

Mrs. Anna has been part of the Duneland YMCA family for more than five years and holds a degree in Early Childhood Education. She is dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.

In our Pre-K program, children learn through hands-on activities, creative play, exploration, and social interaction. Mrs. Anna believes in building strong relationships with families and knows that communication and teamwork play an important role in helping children succeed.
