🚨 🛑 COLD CASE ALERT: TAVIS MCLEAN

On October 27, 2021, shortly after 1:30 a.m., Chesapeake Police responded to the area of Indian River Road and Sparrow Road for a report of shots fired.

While responding, officers were notified of a vehicle accident with injuries at Indian River Road and Oaklette Drive. When officers arrived, they found Tavis McLean inside his vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

Nearly five years later, his homicide remains unsolved.

CHESAPEAKE POLICE OFFER $5,000 REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO ARREST IN COLD CASE HOMICIDES

The Chesapeake Police Department is now offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in any of the Department’s Cold Case Homicide investigations.

This initiative is a collaboration between the Chesapeake Police Department and the Chesapeake Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office is assisting with funding and supporting the effort to generate new information and investigative leads in these unsolved homicide cases.

Detectives continue to investigate these cases and are asking anyone who may have information, regardless of how much time has passed, to come forward. Even information that may seem insignificant could provide investigators with the piece they need to move a case forward.

🚨 🛑 COLD CASE ALERT: On July 26, 2017, at approximately 11:12 p.m., 61-year-old Curtis Overton was collecting abandoned items left along the curb in the 3200 block of Camelot Boulevard in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake.

Curtis was loading the items into his older-model yellow GMC Avalanche when he was shot multiple times. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died.

Nine years later, his homicide remains unsolved.

Someone may remember seeing Curtis or his distinctive yellow truck that night. Someone may have heard gunshots, noticed a person or vehicle in the area, or heard someone talk about what happened afterward. Even a detail that seemed insignificant at the time could help investigators bring answers to Curtis’s loved ones.
