UVA’s Office for Sustainability is pleased to share our UVA Sustainability 2025-2026 Annual Report! The report highlights the wide range of pan-University efforts led by UVA’s Office for Sustainability, Morven Sustainability Lab, Student Council Sustainability Committee, the UVA Health Sustainability Committee and Sustainable Healthcare Operations Team, dozens of sustainability student organizations, Global Environments + Sustainability program, Environmental Thought & Practice major, and many more collaborators and individuals who help advance sustainability efforts every day.Â
Despite growth, UVA has achieved a 45% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, and last year avoided $3.7 million dollars from implementing targeted energy improvements in existing buildings! When it comes to research and curriculum, 76% of departments engage in sustainability-related research, faculty teams were awarded $74 million in extramural grants, and UVA offers over 635 sustainability related courses. This work progress helps UVA maintain a AASHE STARS Gold rating! Check out the progress on all ten of UVA’s ambitious goals and the stories behind it in the report.
