Who’s makes a delivery possible?

We can’t do this without our Beds for Kids community. There are a lot of hands behind every delivery, and we couldn’t do this work without our incredible Beds for Kids community. 💚 💙 Last Friday we had a group of woodworkers come in to cut, prep, and sand our bunk bed side-rails. Their hard work impacts many families!

12% of Charlotte lives under the poverty line. Furniture poverty is just as prevalent.

Furniture poverty is not having the resources to afford, access, or maintain essential household furniture and goods - such as beds, tables, and chairs - needed for a functional, safe, and healthy home.

Back into the Beds for Kids Time Capsule we go!
As we celebrate 15 years, we’ve been looking back at the people and moments that have made Beds for Kids what it is today. This time, it’s all about the people behind the mission. Some volunteered for a single afternoon. Others have been part of this community for years. Staff members have grown alongside the organization, volunteers have returned again and again, and new faces continue to join us every week.
Through it all, one thing has never changed: this mission has always been powered by people. Every bed assembled. Every truck unloaded. Every home furnished. Every family served.

As another school year gets ready to kick off, families across Charlotte are preparing for the year ahead by shopping for school supplies.
For the families we serve, many are moving into housing with little or nothing inside.
Before children can focus on homework or the school day ahead, they need a bed to sleep in. Families need a table where they can share a meal, complete homework, and build routines together. They need the essential furniture that turns an empty house into a home.
As we head into August and September, our greatest need is gently used:
💙 Dining tables
💙 Chairs
💙 Sofas
💙 Coffee tables
Consider giving your gently used furniture a second life in someone else’s home as they prepare for the upcoming school year. And if you don’t currently have furniture to donate, another option to support deliveries is to make a financial donation. A gift could help us pick up donated furniture, prepare it for delivery, and ensure more families receive the essential furnishings they need.

🕰️The Beds for Kids Time Capsule rolls on...
 
Today 7/28 is National World Soccer Day, and Charlotte is clearly having a soccer moment! With the excitement of the FIFA World Cup and the MLS All-Star Game shining a spotlight on our city, it felt like the perfect time to revisit one of our favorite local partnerships.
 
Charlotte FC midfielder Brandt Bronico has always been about more than what happens on the pitch. Over the years, Brandt has volunteered in our warehouse, helped build furniture for families moving into housing, and used his platform to shine a light on furniture poverty right here in Charlotte. Thanks for being part of our story, Brandt Bronico
 
As we celebrate 15 years of Beds for Kids, we’re so grateful for partners like Brandt! It’s such a good reminder that the strongest teams aren’t just built on game day. As we celebrate 15 years serving local families in need, we’re sharing our favorite moments and milestones.

As a furniture bank, our warehouse space is essential to our mission. It allows us to receive donated beds and furniture, organize and store those items, and provide families with the essentials they need to turn a house into a home.
