Samaritan House, NC

Samaritan House, NC We are a 501c3 funded entirely through the generosity of our donors At the same time, we help them connect with government agencies such as Social Security.

Samaritan House provides individuals experiencing homelessness that have been discharged from the hospitals with a safe place to stay and access to needed resources while they recuperate. Who We Are:
Samaritan House is the only non-profit in Charlotte dedicated to providing individuals that are homeless with a safe place to recuperate. Though Samaritan House was founded within the faith community,

we are a secular organization and provide these services to all who need them. Each Samaritan House guest benefits from a safe place to stay, healthy meals, and a supportive environment. We drive them to doctor appointments, help them obtain their prescriptions and physical therapy, and make it possible for them to comply with their care plans. Finally, we give them guidance and access to computers for use of online resources so they can find a place to live and in many cases employment when they leave us. We do all of this with a very small staff supplemented by hundreds of volunteers each year. About 94¢ of every dollar contributed goes directly to services for our residents. Saving Lives, Transitioning to Permanent Housing:
In this safe environment almost all of our residents recover and 80% of them transition to permanent housing. Many return to the workforce. At the same time, we have helped medical providers and taxpayers avoid the costs of repeated emergency room visits and extended hospital stays.

Hey, I'm Jake—38 years young and officially the most unathletic guy you’ll meet. I spotted a bright flyer for this 'ZeroK' thing around town and thought, 'Zero running? That’s the kind of extreme sport I can get behind!' So I Googled Samaritan House to see what was up—and bam, I'm hooked.

Turns out, this fundraiser isn’t about sweating through a race—it's about beer, food trucks, cool local vendors, and hanging at NoDa Brewing with goofy photos and medals (you know I love medals). And here's the real kicker: all of that fun supports people coming off hospital stays who need a safe place to heal. Total win-win!
So yeah, count me in for October 4th. I’m bringing my appetite, my dad jokes, and zero running.

See you at the beer line!

"I’m joining the Samaritan House Zero K because it’s the most fun you can have at a start and finish line without ever leaving it — and every step we don’t take helps our neighbors take a step toward healing and home."

Samaritan House

I came here broken, worn and low,
With nowhere safe, no place to go.
But through the doors, I found a light—
A gentle hand, a heart so bright.

They met me not with shame or fear,
But kindness, warmth, and words sincere.
A bed, a meal, a place to rest,
But more than that—they gave their best.

Like family, they stood by me,
With hope and healing, patiently.
Each day they helped me find my way,
And gave me strength to face the day.

I couldn’t make it on my own,
But here, I never felt alone.
They saw my pain, they heard my cry—
And truth be told, they saved my life.

So if you ask what brought me through,
It’s love, and care, and something true.
A house in name—but so much more,
A lifeline, healing at its core.
