11,000 kits. One powerful message: our neighbors are not alone.

Thank you to Duke Energy and its dedicated employees for assembling 11,000 kits for customers of Crisis Assistance Ministry. These items represent more than material support; they are a reminder to neighbors facing difficult moments that their community believes in them and is standing beside them.

We are deeply grateful for Duke Energy’s partnership and for every team member who gave their time to help build a stronger, more caring Charlotte-Mecklenburg community.

🎬 NOW SHOWING: Crisis Assistance Ministry’s Non Event 2026

We took a shot at becoming movie makers … and the critics were not impressed.

“Stick to housing stability and leave filmmaking alone.”
— Mushy Veggies

Honestly? They may be onto something.

Our movie-making skills may earn zero stars but helping Mecklenburg families build financial stability is what we do best. This year, we invite you to skip the red carpet, cancel the limo, and ignore our “please-miss” event then make a gift from home instead. crisisassistance.org/donate/nonevent26social/

Your support can help:
⭐ Keep a mom’s air conditioning on
⭐ Keep the lights shining in a neighbor’s home
⭐ Help a family remain stably housed

Watch our very dramatic, very disappointing “premiere.” Then help us keep doing the work that truly deserves a standing ovation.

🎭 Location Credit: Thank you to for allowing us to film at its location.

A chance conversation while walking her dogs led Dalong Sivongxay to Crisis Assistance Ministry more than 11 years ago. How, you ask? Well, her neighbor happened to be a recruiter.

At the time, Dalong was working in retail when her neighbor asked whether she was interested in a career change. That unexpected conversation led Dalong to a role as Free Store Manager and, eventually, to her current work as a Financial Assistance Specialist.

Today, Dalong is our Employee of the Year, recognized for the compassion, adaptability, and steady care she brings to customers and coworkers every day.

Her story is a reminder that one unexpected opportunity can grow into years of meaningful service.

Looking back at a standout moment from our 2025 summer internship program, when interns visited Roof Above to see partnership in action.

Their experience offered a behind-the-scenes look at the very fabric of nonprofit partnership and how deeply connected our community response truly is. From learning alongside partner organizations to seeing collaboration in action, our interns gained a greater understanding of how nonprofits work together to support neighbors in meaningful ways.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to help shape the next generation of leaders who understand that strong communities are built through connection, partnership, and shared purpose.
