Survivors with a Testimony Inc. (S.W.A.T. Inc.)

is a non-profit organization based in North Carolina whose mission is to put a STOP to the varied forms of domestic abuse in our community by providing support services such as education and advocacy to survivors and families. Our Vision

A world without abuse for men, women and children in their schools, jobs, homes, and communities. Key Factors & Statistics

Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. It includes physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and emotional abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic violence can vary dramatically; however, the one constant component of domestic violence is one partner’s consistent efforts to maintain power and control over the other. When you think of Domestic violence we always think of a women being hurt by a man, but men also suffer from abusive women. Statistics show: On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States.1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of [some form of] physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime.1
1 in 5 women and 1 in 7 men have been victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
1 in 7 women and 1 in 18 men have been stalked by an intimate partner during their lifetime to the point in which they felt very fearful or believed that they or someone close to them would be harmed or killed.

💜 SHE MAY BE SMILING IN PUBLIC WHILE SUFFERING IN PRIVATE!

Some women have mastered the art of looking okay while their entire world is falling apart.

She shows up for work.
She takes care of her children.
She attends church.
She smiles for pictures.

But behind closed doors, she may be living in fear.

Domestic violence isn't always a black eye or broken bone.

Sometimes it's controlling her money, monitoring her phone, isolating her from family, threatening her children, or making her believe she is worthless.

STOP ASKING, "WHY DOESN'T SHE JUST LEAVE?"

Start asking, "What can we do to help her become safe?"

At SWAT, we believe every survivor deserves support without judgment.

MEN GET ABUSED TOO!

Not every man experiencing abuse has visible bruises. Some are being emotionally destroyed, financially controlled, manipulated, threatened, and mentally broken behind closed doors.

Society tells men to be strong, but strength should never mean suffering in silence.

Some men are afraid to speak because they fear being laughed at, judged, or not believed.

At Survivors With A Testimony, Inc., we want men to know:

💙 Your voice deserves to be heard.
💙 Abuse does not make you weak.
💙 You deserve safety, dignity, and respect.

🚨💜 A CALL TO ACTION FOR OUR COMMUNITY: HOW MANY MORE LIVES MUST BE LOST?

NORTH CAROLINA, IT'S TIME TO DO MORE THAN TALK ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE!

The numbers are heartbreaking, but what should disturb us even more is knowing that behind every number is a life that mattered, a family forever changed, and a community left grieving.

📍 2025: 69 homicides and 22 suicides.

📍 2026 (January 1 – September 18): 53 homicides and 11 suicides.

📍 PITT COUNTY: 74 domestic violence-related deaths remembered from 2000 through 2026, including seven since October 2025.

THESE ARE NOT JUST STATISTICS. THESE WERE PEOPLE WITH NAMES, FAMILIES, DREAMS, AND FUTURES!

Where are our churches? Where are our community leaders? Where are our elected officials, businesses, advocates, and organizations?

Domestic violence is not just a survivor's problem. IT IS OUR COMMUNITY'S RESPONSIBILITY!

💜 I AM CALLING OUR COMMUNITY TO ACTION!

✅ CHURCHES: Create safe spaces where survivors can seek help without judgment. Stop encouraging people to remain in dangerous situations in the name of marriage, forgiveness, or faith.

✅ COMMUNITY LEADERS: Help strengthen prevention programs, survivor resources, emergency housing, and mental health services.

✅ BUSINESS OWNERS: Partner with organizations serving survivors. Sponsor programs, donate resources, and create employment opportunities.

✅ PARENTS & EDUCATORS: Teach our children about healthy relationships, boundaries, manipulation, and the warning signs of abuse.

✅ COMMUNITY MEMBERS: Stop looking the other way. Believe survivors, speak against abuse, and help connect individuals with safe resources.

WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER FUNERAL TO REMIND US THAT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS REAL!

As Founder and Executive Director of Survivors With A Testimony, Inc. (SWAT), I am calling on our churches, organizations, businesses, and community leaders to come together.

We cannot end domestic violence by working in isolation. We need partnerships, funding, safe housing, education, and people willing to put ACTION behind their words!

WE NEED MORE THAN PURPLE RIBBONS. WE NEED COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS!
