We are excited to share that The Lonon Foundation has been selected to participate in the next cohort of the Community Engaged Research Scholars Program at MUSC.
Over the next year, we will collaborate with Dr. Joni Nelson, PhD, to develop a conceptual framework that explores the connection between psychosocial support and health literacy needs for children impacted by a parent or caregiver's cancer diagnosis.
Currently, no comprehensive, widely adopted framework exists to support these children and families. Drawing on nearly a decade of serving Lowcountry families, along with expertise in Child Life and health literacy, this project aims to create a scalable, evidence-informed model that can help improve support for families navigating parental cancer.
This is a major milestone for The Lonon Foundation and an important step toward expanding our impact. We are honored to be part of this cohort and grateful for the opportunity to help advance research that supports children and families when they need it most.
Thank you to MUSC and Dr. Joni Nelson for partnering with us on this important work!
