This letter was received by our Burton Food Pantry. This heartfelt thank you reflects how the efforts of our these volunteers truly impacts someone in our community.
"I never expected to open an empty refrigerator that day in January 2024. Life had changed overnight. A parent had just died, I had just paid to replace my car's brakes, and had no money for groceries until payday ten days later.
I also never expected the extraordinary generosity of the Burton Wednesday Food Pantry. They gave me beef, chicken, vegetables, and enough food to last until payday. And, to my surprise, they included a red velvet cake.
Two years later, I still remember looking at that cake in astonishment. Going from having no food at all to receiving such abundance—and even a cake—was an incredible act of kindness.
I will always be grateful to the donors, board members, and volunteers of the Hunger Task Force and Burton Food Pantry. They provided not only the food I needed but also such kindness and warmth when I needed it most."
