WRDS is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose philosophy is based on education, communication, dedication, and community service while having lots of fun together. The Western Reserve area is located in northeast Ohio and includes Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Summit, and Trumbull counties, however, we are happy to bring daylily lovers on board regardless of wh

ere they are located.

If you have a willingness to roll up your sleeves, work in the garden, and participate in our meetings and events, then this is the club for you! Peak daylily season in our area is mid-July.

Although it was a really hot day Saturday, we had a terrific time at the Barberton, OH Mum Fest. Beautiful fall color everywhere! Our quick lunch meeting was held at Hodge’s Café and several Members decided to go on to the Yankee Peddler Festival in North Lawrence, OH afterwards.

The praying matis babies are growing up!

Some of our members came across Praying Mantis egg cases and decided to try hatching these beneficial insects into our gardens. Our egg cases have hatched and we were rewarded with hundreds of little babies. They are fun to watch and we hope that their huge appetites will help control the mosquitoes.

Daylily scapes are popping up all over! It looks like we might have an early season in NE Ohio.

Imagination and creativity were the theme of the day as we visited the Garden Fair at Quailcrest Farms in Wooster, OH. We went home inspired with some cool new items for our gardens!

We are pleased to announce that the winner of our raffle at the Perennial Party Weekend and Daylily Plant Sale is Don Barr from Chesterland, OH. Congratulations, Don! The Barr’s will be adding the daylily THE ULTIMATE SACRAFICE to their garden along with a beautiful stained glass hummingbird ornament.
Thanks to all who supported our group by stopping by our plant sale and for taking part in our “Let’s Grow Hybrid Daylilies” workshop.
