There was a desire and a sincere need to continue the Founder’s legacy of sisterhood, scholarship, and service evolved into the formation of a new Chapter in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area. was chartered

on March 18, 1979 by twenty-two alumnae members living in the Orange County Area: Alice P. Caldwell, Dorothy M. Carey, Demetria Chavis, Martha Flowers, Deborah Hall, Ethel Jean Jackson, Rosemary Jackson, Roslyn B. Moore, Joyce D. O’ Rourke, Winona T. Peace, Sandra M. Renwick, Eleanor Joyce Roland, Erma Jean Smith, Carolyn Stroman, Mildred Trent, Esther Vassar, Sheila M. White, Elizabeth Whitted, and Betty Paul Woods. Since then ; members of CHCAA has continued with a spirit of excellence and tireless dedication to ensuring that the community is provided with programs and projects that encompasses the Sorority’s Five Point Thrust. Since March 18, 1979, our members have taken pride in serving the diverse communities in Orange and Chatham counties. Over the years CHCAA has worked diligently to enhance the lives of local citizens by:
-Offering parenting workshops for pregnant and parenting teens
-Educating the community on socio-political issues which disproportionately affect minorities
-Empowering adolescent girls through self-enrichment activities
-Delivering holiday baskets to needy families
-Awarding merit and need-based academic scholarships to high school seniors

The realization of CHCAA’s public service goals is made possible by our active and dedicated members. As we continue to meet the needs of our community, we must remain committed to our sorority’s true purpose – SERVICE.

What an incredible way to close out the year!

The CHCAA Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated had an amazing time celebrating our accomplishments, sisterhood, service, and impact during our End-of-Year Celebration. From laughter, fellowship, line dancing, and horse back riding to recognizing the hard work and dedication of our members, the evening was a beautiful reminder of the strength and excellence that define our chapter.

As we reflect on a successful year of serving our community and uplifting one another, we are grateful for every soror who contributed her time, talents, and commitment. Together, we continue to embody the ideals of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action.

Here's to celebrating our achievements, cherishing the memories we've made, and looking forward to an even greater year ahead!
