BEETLES (Better Environmental Education, Teaching, Learning, and Expertise Sharing) sessions are hands-on experiences that invite educators to explore specific elements of research-based science pedagogy and rethink their teaching and learning. Developed by the Lawrence Hall of Science, these interactive, learner-centered workshops promote inquiry-driven ways to connect students with science and the natural world. This workshop zeroes in on field journaling, offering practical strategies to sharpen observation skills and ways to use journals for assessment.

The future of environmental education depends on creating spaces where all people can belong and thrive. 🌍💚

Our online introductory JEDI course was created to help environmental educators and professionals deepen their understanding of equity-centered practices and build confidence discussing sensitive topics with care and compassion.

Participants will explore communication tools, historical context, bias and oppression, and ways to develop personal action plans that support more inclusive communities and programs.

Together, we can build a stronger and more equitable environmental movement.

This course was developed through collaboration with Center for Diversity and the Environment, EcoInclusive, Justice Outside, Environmental Educators of North Carolina, Kansas Association for Conservation and Environmental Education, and Kentucky Association for Environmental Education.

Tomorrow is the last day to register for our JEDI course: https://www.eenc.org/upcoming-events

Good books. Meaningful conversations. Community connections. 🍄📚

EENC is excited to bring environmental educators together for our upcoming Book Club series! Each semester, we’ll dive into a new book through monthly Zoom discussions, thoughtful reflection, and a themed regional field trip inspired by the semester’s reading.

Our July–December 2026 selection is Fearless, Sleepless, Deathless: What Fungi Taught Me about Nourishment, Poison, Ecology, Hidden Histories, Zombies, and Black Survival by Maria Pinto.

Together, we’ll explore the fascinating world of fungi while engaging in conversations about ecology, history, resilience, and connection. Whether you’re an avid reader, lifelong learner, or simply curious, we’d love for you to join us!
