y "Liking" this page and then submitting a pledge form with selected actions to reduce your carbon footprint. Over the past 150 years humans have made significant innovative advancements that have improved our lives. Many of these innovations such as cars, planes, and electricity use fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal. The tremendous consumption of fossil fuels have caused carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere to increase signficantly and this increase is causing global warming. Global warming is resulting in sea level rise, extreme heat waves, changes in disease patterns and other impacts. For the past 20 years governments have attempted, with little success, to reach agreement on limits on carbon dioxide emissions. Individual actions to reduce fossil fuel consumption can make a significant difference if enough individuals act. The chart on this page shows that our collective actions can obtain the results our governments have been trying to achieve. Make a pledge to reduce your fossil fuel use and communicate your pledge by becoming Earth's Friend. So become a Earthbook Friend and encourage your friends to do the same.
