The Reading Circle

The Reading Circle A literacy group working in the Huntington, NY community. But in low income neighborhoods, children may have few, or even no books at home.

Reading Circle volunteers visit local youth centers each week where they
read aloud, work one-on-one, play literacy related games and give out
free books. At our Books-R-Awesome literacy event, approximately 100 children meet authors and illustrators, enjoy story and art workshops, performances and a free book fair where we give out 500 to 800 new books to eager readers. Every one knows that readi

ng is the cornerstone of all learning and good readers are typically successful students. Parents may not have the time or means for library visits, or to read stories aloud. In short, to make reading fun and more engaging than school work. Our objective is to provide literacy support outside of the classroom, which is an essential part of nurturing strong readers.

My older dog Abby has been sick the last few days. She's almost 15 and we're worried about her. A came across this photo and story totallly by accident

Save the bears.

Polar bears need our help. Climate and habitat change already threaten to kill off this magnificent species.
But did you know that polar bears are still killed for their products --skins, claws, trophies, etc --which are traded
internationally? Please lend your voice to urge protection of the bears, worldwide, at the highest level. https://secure.humanesociety.org/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=5547
