Special Olympics Colorado provides year-round training and competition in 21 sports for 18,000 athletes and Unified partners who are living in the state of Colorado. With the support of more than 9,000 volunteers and the generosity of Colorado citizens, corporations and local businesses, Special Olympics Colorado is able to offer more than 100 events annually to individuals ages 2 and up (oldest athlete is 78 years old). Participation with other athletes, Unified partners (typically developing peers), coaches, sponsors and volunteers builds confidence and creates opportunities to participate as productive and respected members of society by increasing public awareness of the athletes’ capabilities.

Every assist makes a difference!

Throughout the Denver Summit FC season, Swire Coca-Cola pledged $250 to Special Olympics Colorado for every assist, resulting in a generous $25,000 contribution to support Unified sports and the 30,000+ athletes who live and compete across Colorado.

Their generosity also created a special match-day experience: at the Coke Title Match on October 17, 11 SOCO Young Athletes served as Starting XI mascots, walking onto the field alongside the players before kickoff.

Thank you, Swire Coca-Cola, USA, for championing inclusion and helping athletes shine on and off the field!

We loved spending the day at the 2026 Youth Summit with more than 1,000 students from 65 schools across Colorado! From leadership discussions to sharing ideas on creating more inclusive schools, the passion and enthusiasm on display were incredible.

A special shoutout to our Youth Activation Committee for bringing this event to life. What a fantastic day of connection, learning, and inspiration!

During the winter season, athletes and Unified partners can compete in the following sports:

This , we’re celebrating athletes who succeed on AND off the field.

Meet Jeff Steron, our Donor Relations Assistant, who is celebrating 10 years at Special Olympics Colorado this month! He is proud of his role, where he supports our Development team in speaking to donors about the impact that Special Olympics has had on his life. He is also a proud athlete who competes in bowling and golf.

Before working at SOCO, Jeff worked at Special Olympics Arizona for 20 years. That's a total of 30 years working for Special Olympics!!

We're proud to have Jeff as part of our team and love celebrating all of his accomplishments!
