Yesterday, I got to spend some time with our beautiful Mrs. Sweetwater County, Carla, and she was an absolute joy to talk to! ❤️ Something I did a couple of months ago made an impact on her, and she wanted to personally thank me. That meant more to me than she probably realizes!

We may both be running for Mrs. Wyoming, but that doesn’t mean we can’t cheer each other on, support one another, and build a friendship along the way. 👑❤️

One of the biggest things I’ve learned through pageantry is finding yourself. When you step outside your comfort zone, put yourself out there, and allow yourself to be seen, you discover parts of yourself you may have never known existed.

Carla and I may have different goals, different stories, and different journeys, but I have a feeling this friendship is just getting started! 🥰

At the end of the day, a crown is wonderful, but the connections we make, the lives we touch, and the women we become along the way are what make this journey so special.

There is room for all of us to shine! ✨❤️

When was the last time you sat in a swing? 🛝☀️

Not just sat in one, but really swung.

You know, the kind on a playground in a park, with the sun shining through the trees, the warmth hitting your face, and your legs pumping until you’re soaring through the sky with absolutely no cares in the world…

Well, except for the occasional thought of, “If this old rusty chain snaps, this is really going to hurt!” 😂

I was reminded of just how peaceful the simplest moments can be. Feeling God’s warm sunshine on my face, breathing in the fresh air, and watching the world around me slow down brought me a sense of peace I didn’t even realize I needed. ❤️

As busy adults, we spend so much of our lives rushing from one thing to the next. Work, responsibilities, school drop-offs, practices, games, dinner, laundry… the list never seems to end.

And somewhere in the middle of all that chaos, we forget to just be.

Maybe we all need to take a little time to slow down. To swing a little higher, laugh a little louder, feel the sunshine on our faces, and enjoy watching our babies play and run without worrying about what comes next.

No rushing from school to practice. No checking the clock. No worrying about the next thing on the to-do list.

Just a little time to breathe, reflect, and be present in the moment God has given us.

Because one day, our babies won’t be so little, and we might find ourselves wishing for just one more afternoon at the playground.

So here’s your reminder: Go swing. Take the long way home. Sit in the sunshine. Watch your kids play. Let yourself feel like a kid again.

Life is happening right here, right now. And sometimes, the most beautiful blessings are found in the simplest moments. ☀️🙏🏻❤️

One of the most important things we can teach our children is accountability.

Not just facing a consequence, but understanding why what they did was wrong.

Sometimes that means having the hard conversation. Sitting down with them and explaining, “What you did hurt someone,” or “That choice wasn’t okay.” And then comes the part that can be even harder:

Making them apologize.

Not a quick, forced “sorry” just because an adult told them to. Teaching them to look someone in the eye, acknowledge what they did, take responsibility for it, and sincerely say, “I was wrong. I’m sorry.”

And that starts with us.

Our children need to see us do the same. They need to see us apologize when we are wrong. They need to see that adults aren’t above accountability either.

As parents, we also have to understand that sometimes the best thing we can do is step back and allow a coach, teacher, mentor, or another trusted adult to hold our child accountable.

We don’t have to rescue them from every uncomfortable moment.

Because those uncomfortable moments are where character is built.

This is Community Roots. 🌱

We aren’t just raising children who can win games, get good grades, or succeed in life.

We’re raising future teammates, coaches, parents, leaders, neighbors, and community members.

And strong communities are built by people who know how to take responsibility, own their mistakes, make things right, and do better.

Sometimes the greatest thing we can give our children isn’t protection from the hard thing. It’s the courage and character to do the hard thing.

As a mom of boys, there is one thing I think about often…

Who are we raising them to become?

I don’t just want to raise boys who can throw a football, win a wrestling match, or succeed in a classroom.

I want to raise boys who know they are loved.
Boys who know it’s okay to ask for help.
Boys who know that being strong doesn’t mean keeping everything bottled up.
Boys who know how to be a good friend, a good husband, a good father, and a good man.

And I believe that starts with community.

It starts with the coach who notices the kid sitting on the sidelines. The teacher who sees potential in a child who doesn’t see it in himself. The mentor who takes the time to listen. The business owner who sponsors the team, hires that teenager for his first job, or simply shows up.

Those moments may seem small to us.

But to a child, they can become part of the foundation they carry for the rest of their life.

As moms, we can’t always be everywhere our children go. We can’t protect them from every disappointment, every failure, or every hard season.

But we can help build a village around them.

And when we give our children strong roots, we aren’t just raising stronger kids.

We’re helping raise healthier men, stronger families, and a community where people know they don’t have to face life alone.

That is why Community Roots is so deeply personal to me.

Because I’m not just thinking about the children we have today.

I’m thinking about the men they will become tomorrow. ❤️

Recently, someone asked me, “What are your goals?”

Other than winning a pageant, what are your goals?

Honestly, it made me stop and think. But then I realized… if you know me, you know I’m always working toward something. ❤️

One goal I’ve been working on for a LONG time is inner peace—being happy with who I am and not worrying so much about what others think of how I look, dress, wear my hair, or do my makeup.

“Grow your hair out.”
No thanks. Short hair is ME. 💇‍♀️

“That isn’t your color.”
Maybe not, but it makes me happy.

“You should do your makeup this way.”
If I need help, I’ll ask. 😉

And if I ever decide I do want to change something? That’s my choice too.

I’ve come so far from where I was years ago, and I’m incredibly proud of myself.

My goal isn’t perfection.

My goal is peace. Peace with who I am and the freedom to be unapologetically ME. ❤️

👟 LACE UP FOR OUR KIDS 👟

Sometimes making a difference starts with something as simple as a pair of shoes. ❤️

As I continue my journey as Mrs. Oil City, I wanted to find a way to make my pageant journey about more than just a crown.

I’m teaming up with local businesses, community members, and generous donors to raise money that will help support my journey while also putting new shoes on the feet of kids right here in our community.

Because our kids deserve to feel confident, supported, and ready to chase whatever dreams they have. 👟✨

And this is exactly what Community Roots is about — investing in our children, supporting the people who make our communities strong, and reminding each other that when we work together, small steps can make a BIG difference.

Real change starts with community.

As you all know, I am very passionate about youth sports. I believe sports can build confidence, character, strength, discipline, resilience, and the everyday coping skills our kids will carry with them long after the season ends.

But lately, I’ve been thinking about something…

What happens when a child isn’t the most athletic?
What happens when they don’t understand the game as quickly?
What happens when they struggle to keep up?

Do we see those kids?

Do we listen to them?

Do we make sure they are still learning, growing, and building confidence — or do they quietly get left behind?

Because the child who isn’t scoring the touchdowns, making the baskets, or winning the matches may be the child who needs their coach to believe in them the most.

Coaches, I’m asking you: Are you seeing every child? Are you listening to every child? Are you looking for the strengths they may not even know they have yet?

But this also makes me look at us as parents.

Are we letting our coaches coach?

Are we trusting the people who have volunteered their time to teach our children? Are we allowing our kids to struggle, learn, make mistakes, receive correction, and figure things out without stepping in every time?

Our kids don’t need perfect seasons.
They don’t need to win every game.
They don’t all need to be the best athlete.

They need to know that they belong.

They need adults who will see them, challenge them, encourage them, and believe in them.

Because sometimes the greatest lesson a child takes away from youth sports isn’t how to win.

It’s learning “I can do hard things. I can keep going. I can handle disappointment. I have people in my corner. And I matter.”

That’s why I believe so strongly in youth sports.

Let’s make sure we’re giving every child the opportunity to experience the very things we say sports are supposed to teach them. ❤️
