As a mom, my first job, my favorite job, and my most important job will always be being there for my kids. ❤️
But sometimes, I have to miss something. And if I’m being honest, that is never easy for me.
This week, while I was in Dallas for work, my youngest had his first football scrimmage. I couldn’t be there physically, but my sister FaceTimed me, took videos, and another mom took pictures to send my way.
So even though I was miles away, I got to watch my baby from the other side of a phone, cheer him on, and feel like I was right there. 🥹❤️
And then I watched something else that meant just as much.
As an assistant coach, I saw a dad step in and help coach. He didn’t have to. He simply saw that the kids needed someone there—and he showed up.
That is community.
It’s the mom who takes pictures for the mom who can’t be there.
It’s the sister who FaceTimes so you don’t miss the moment.
It’s the dad who steps onto the field when another coach is needed.
It’s the parents who cheer for every kid, not just their own.
We can’t always be everywhere our kids are. Life happens. Work happens. Responsibilities happen.
But when we build strong communities, our kids are never without someone in their corner.
And that is exactly why I believe in community roots. Because sometimes, it takes a village to make sure our kids know they are seen, supported, and cheered for—even when Mom can’t physically be there. ❤️
