Meet our 2026-2027 President!
Hey everyone! My name is Makayla and I am so excited for what this next year in MOMS Club as president will bring. A little bit about me — I am from Utah…kind of. I lived there until I was 5, Georgia until I was 9, back to Utah for a year, then to Arizona until I was 12, back to Georgia for two years, and then finally to Utah until I was 26. So the easiest thing to say is that I’m from Utah. The alpine mountains, snow, salt flats, and red rock mountains are all home to me. But my family and I have all made our new home in Temple, GA!
My husband is from GA and we met in middle school the second time I lived in GA. We lost touch until 2019 when I got a random friend request from him on Facebook. We decided to try out a long distance relationship and the rest is history. We have our son, Harrison, who will be 18 months soon. He loves all things trucks, sitting outside to watch the garbage man every Friday morning, balls, his doggies, ducks, and bears. Recently, he’s been loving cows too.
I used to do photography a lot more consistently when I lived in Utah, but then I moved and had a baby so I don’t do it as much. My goal is to eventually have consistent clients or at least do it more consistently. Before I moved, I had also just gotten my MA certification and did phlebotomy for a couple years. You can regularly catch me playing with my veins 😂 I also studied at Southern Utah University for sociology. I didn’t graduate but I got close to it before realizing I had no idea why I was in college and what I was going to do with my degree. After more self reflection, I know I’d like to become a midwife one day so I can assist moms in home births or in a a birth center setting. That goal won’t be achieved until I am done having kids and they are in school.
I found MOMS Club a few months after I moved to the area and it has been so nice to not be going through motherhood alone. I also love that Harrison has little ones close to his age to play with. Before, it felt like he was never going to walk. Then we started going to MOMS Club and he was walking within a month.
That’s just a little bit about me!
