In December, the Fraternal Order of Police, Tony Jackson Garrett Lodge #35 paid a small tribute to its namesake, Ofc Tony Jackson, at the Carroll County Piblic Safety Memorial Park. Ofc. Tony Jackson Garrett, who lost his life 50 years ago while trying to help fellow officers, was remembered as a great officer by those closest to him.

During the incident, Ofc. Donnie Bates, of the Carrollton Police Department was also critically injured, and Trooper William Horton were injured.

Ofc. Garrett’s widow, Sarah was 7 months pregnant with a son when Ofc. Garrett was killed. They, along with Chief Joel Richards, Ofc. Hosey, Trooper Horton, Ofc. Mike Bradley, Ofc. Payne, and FOP trustee Tim Cole were in attendance.

Several people spoke about Ofc. Jackson’s career and a wreath was placed.

Thank you, Ofc. Tony Jackson Garrett for your sacrifice 50 years ago to this community 💙
