😨Did you know that over 75% of the world's population suffer from the fear of public speaking?
This means , if you are nervous about speaking in front of people, you are very much not alone.
Here are 6 SMALL HACKS that you can follow RIGHT NOW to beat that nervousness!
👉ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE NERVOUS - It might sound silly, but allowing yourself to be nervous, and realizing that it’s normal, can actually help you calm those nerves over time. At worst case, it will help you address the issue and face the situation, the minute you step on to the stage.
👉BE YOUR "TRUE" SELF - When people listen to your speeches, they want to believe in what they’re hearing and who they’re hearing it from. No matter how good your speech is, or your delivery of that speech, if you’re not being yourself, people will notice. Eventually, this will lead you to lose your authenticity.
👉STRINGENT EYE CONTACT - Find a few familiar faces in the crowd that you can lock eyes with. Don’t stare at the same person for the entire speech, but do look at some people’s eyes during it, so to avoid having a blank stare the entire time.
💡- Even if there are no familiar faces, imagine your role model in the crowd and picture them walking around your room, so that you can move your eyes accordingly.
👉BREATHE IN AND OUT - It's okay to feel nervous and worried about your speech. But don't let this one aspect encapsulate your whole speech. Plan your pauses ahead of time, slow down when you talk. This will indicate your calmness.
👉NO CAFFEINE - Substitute caffeine with tons of water. That level of hydration will give you a similar energy boost, helping you in achieving a laser sharp focus. I personally drink 4 to 5 glasses of warm water to help me calm down before I hit the spotlight.
👉VISUALISE THE PROCESS- Lastly, the best thing you can do for your speech is, to visualize yourself delivering it. Doing this will help you imagine what it’s going to be like on stage, which can allow you to relax and get more comfortable. This is the secret sauce of a successful speaker.
