🐐🌿 SAVE THE GOATS. PROTECT CARMICHAEL.

A beloved Carmichael tradition—and an important wildfire prevention resource—was at risk this year due to budget constraints.

When the Carmichael Recreation and Park District was faced with the possibility of losing its targeted grazing program due to budget restraints, the Carmichael Parks Foundation stepped forward and invested $21,450 in emergency funding to keep the herd grazing in our parks and open spaces.

Because of that decision, the goats arrived this year.

And so did the sheep.

Together, these hardworking animals are helping reduce wildfire fuel loads at Schweitzer Grove Nature Area, Sutter-Jensen Community Park, Jensen Botanical Garden, Jan Park, and other locations throughout Carmichael.

These aren’t just goats.

They’re part of a natural wildfire prevention strategy that:

🔥 Reduces wildfire risk

🌿 Removes excess vegetation naturally

🏡 Helps protect nearby homes and neighborhoods

🌳 Preserves parks, trails, and open spaces

🌎 Reduces reliance on herbicides and heavy machinery

❤️ Keeps Carmichael beautiful and resilient

The Carmichael Parks Foundation believed this program, and the protection it provides, was simply too valuable to lose.

Now we’re inviting the community to help restore the funds that made it possible.

Our goal is $22,000.

All donations go directly to the Carmichael Parks Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the Carmichael Recreation and Park District, to help recoup the essentially emergency funding used to preserve the 2026 grazing program.

Every dollar stays local.

Every contribution helps.

Every acre grazed helps create a safer, healthier, and more resilient Carmichael.

❤️ Community-Saved. Community-Supported.

🐐 Follow the herd.

🌿 Support natural wildfire prevention.

🔥 Help protect the places we love.

🐐🌿 Save the Goats. Protect Carmichael.

Sometimes the best environmental solutions have four legs.

For years, these hardworking goats have helped care for some of Carmichael’s most treasured natural spaces. As they graze, they remove dry grasses, weeds, and brush that can contribute to wildfire risk—all without fuel, engines, noise, or chemicals.

They’re a simple, sustainable solution that benefits our parks, open spaces, wildlife habitats, and community.

Earlier this year, budget cuts threatened the future of the goat grazing program.

The Carmichael Parks Foundation believed this effort was too valuable to lose.

So we stepped in and invested $21,450 in emergency funding to keep the herd grazing.

Because protecting our environment isn’t always about building something new.

Sometimes it’s about preserving something that’s already working.

Today, the goats continue their work at places like Schweitzer Grove Nature Area, Jensen Botanical Garden, and Sutter-Jensen Community Park—improving habitat health, reducing wildfire fuel, and helping maintain the natural beauty that makes Carmichael special.

Now we’re asking for your help.

By supporting this campaign, you’re helping restore the funds used to save this environmentally friendly program while supporting the future of Carmichael’s parks and open spaces.

🌿 Natural vegetation management

🔥 Reduced wildfire fuel

🐐 Sustainable land stewardship

❤️ A community coming together to protect what matters

If you believe in practical environmental solutions, healthy parks, and preserving the character of Carmichael, we’d love to have you join us.
