🎓 Congratulations to Brian Gomez, Cal Worthington Memorial Scholarship Awardee! 🎓

Brian plans to pursue a career in welding or construction, building on the experience and familiarity he gained growing up around the industry. He hopes to help shape the future through new buildings and infrastructure while making his family proud as the first in his family to attend college.

Brian plans to attend a two-year college to develop his technical skills before pursuing a four-year degree in business. We are proud to celebrate Brian’s ambition, dedication, and commitment to building a bright future!

Congratulations to Elizabeth Burton at Dewey Elementary!

As a PROPEL Readiness Grant recipient, Elizabeth is creating a supportive classroom where students can build confidence in understanding and managing their emotions.

From calming sound machines and sensory tools to visual supports, emotion-focused books, and a much-loved crash pad, these resources help students feel empowered to ask for breaks, regulate their emotions, and meet their sensory needs in positive ways.

This grant is part of a larger initiative made possible by Link Logistics Real Estate, whose generous funding is equipping 85 San Juan Unified classrooms with durable social-emotional support systems. These resources help reduce disruptions, increase student engagement, and protect valuable instructional time.

🎓 Congratulations to Three Outstanding 2026 ACHIEVE Scholarship Awardees!

We’re proud to celebrate Elanor Espey, Leona Garcia, and Joanna Gayoba, three inspiring students with big dreams, incredible determination, and a passion for making a difference.

🎭 Elanor Espey: 2026 Sacramento Women’s Chorus Jean Schultz Memorial Performing Arts Scholarship Recipient. Elanor plans to pursue a career as a psychology researcher, advancing our understanding of ADHD and other developmental disorders while continuing her passion for theatre arts.

🩺 Leona Garcia: 2026 Del Campo AVID Scholarship Awardee. Leona dreams of becoming a dermatology nurse practitioner and helping others who experience skin conditions, inspired by her own journey with eczema and the compassionate care that helped her.

🎬 Joanna Gayoba: 2026 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) Student Scholarship Awardee. Joanna dreams of becoming a film director and using the power of storytelling to bring diverse perspectives to the big screen. She hopes to create films that touch hearts, spark conversations, and make a lasting impact.

As an El Camino High School graduate, a former student of San Juan Unified schools, and a proud Dewey Elementary parent, Johnny’s connection to our local schools runs deep. We are grateful for his time, leadership, and dedication to making a difference in education.

🌟 PROPEL Grant Spotlight update: Tina Tran! “When students feel calm, connected, and confident, they are more willing to take academic risks, participate in discussions, and persist through challenging tasks.”

Congratulations to Tina Tran of Dyer Kelly Elementary, a recipient of a San Juan Education Foundation PROPEL Resources Grant!

Tina used her grant to create a “Calm Down Corner” with tools like a rainbow timer, breathing stickers, an “I Feel, I Can” chart, fidgets, and a cozy space for students to take a break.

“The materials purchased through this grant help my students identify and regulate their emotions, practice problem-solving strategies, and build positive peer relationships.”

She shared that these visual, hands-on tools have been especially impactful for young learners and English language learners, helping reduce disruptions, increase self-management, and make learning more accessible.

We’re proud to support teachers like Tina who are helping students feel supported, confident, and ready to learn!

🎬 Congratulations to Joanna Gayoba, 2026 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) Student Scholarship Awardee!

Joanna dreams of becoming a film director and bringing her artistic vision to the big screen. She hopes to tell powerful stories from the perspective of a woman and a minority, bringing greater diversity and representation to the film industry.

Throughout high school, Joanna has worked hard to grow both academically and artistically, building a strong foundation for her future in film. She believes in the power of storytelling to touch hearts, spark meaningful conversations, and create change, and she is ready to pursue that vision in college and beyond.

We are proud to celebrate Joanna’s passion, creativity, and determination to use her voice to make an impact through film. Congratulations, Joanna!

🌱 Thank you for sharing your Achievement Grant story, Ryan!

We’re so grateful to hear how the San Juan Education Foundation’s $2,500 STARS Grant, combined with additional donations, helped bring a new classroom hydroponics growing system to Thomas Edison Language Institute.

More than 100 third-grade students have had the opportunity to follow the lifecycle of lettuce, from seed to harvest, while using the scientific method to observe and document their learning. And the best part? Students got to enjoy the fruits of their labor by making their own salads with the lettuce they grew!

Even more meaningful, this new system ensures that this hands-on learning experience can continue for years to come, reaching new students each year.

Thank you, Ryan, for sharing the impact of this grant and for giving us a glimpse into the hands-on learning happening in your classroom. This is exactly why we invest in our educators and students!

🎓 Congratulations to Leona Garcia, 2026 Del Campo AVID Scholarship Awardee! 🎓

Leona plans to pursue a career as a dermatology nurse practitioner, with hopes of eventually working in aesthetics as well. Inspired by her own experiences with a skin condition, Leona wants to help others find comfort and confidence in their skin.

Her goal is to make a difference in the lives of others while pursuing a specialized career in healthcare. We are proud to celebrate Leona’s compassion, determination, and passion for helping others.

Congratulations, Leona! We can’t wait to see all you accomplish!

Congratulations to our PROPEL Resources Grant recipient at Greer Elementary!

This grant will provide a class set of Bob by Rebecca Stead and Wendy Mass, giving students the opportunity to experience a story filled with wonder, imagination, and heart.

For many students, having a book of their very own is something special. These books will encourage students to discover the joy of reading, spark their imaginations, and inspire them to become lifelong readers.

We’re proud to support educators who are putting books directly into students’ hands and helping create a lasting love of reading!
