We had such a good time walking in the Sacramento Pride Parade yesterday! We had 10 members of the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael, 8 members of Girl Scout Troop 3191, and some friends and family. We spotted other Girl Scouts as well as some of our club’s organizational members, like San Juan Unified School District and Carmichael Presbyterian. What a wonderful and colorful community event with thousands of local volunteers, marchers, and spectators coming together to dance, sing, cheer, celebrate, and support our LGBTQ+ friends, neighbors, and community members. The Kiwanis Club of Carmichael looks forward to coming back next year! Thank you to The Sacramento LGBT Community Center for hosting this event every year!

Members of the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael we busy cleaning up a section of the American River Parkway. You will see our members out there the 2nd Saturday of every month. It’s one of the many on-going community service projects of our club

If you are out at the Sacramento Pride Parade this Sunday, keep an eye out for the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael and Girl Scout Troop 3191. We’ll be walking in the parade together to celebrate with our community!

The Kiwanis Club of Carmichael recently donated $500 to Beaver Cares, the food pantry program at American River College. Beaver Cares serves up to 300 students a day who face food insecurity while trying to improve their lives through higher education. They provide a lot of other support for students as well, including housing and transportation, financial assistance, diapers, technology loans, etc. To find out more about Beaver Cares at ARC, you can check out their website: https://arc.losrios.edu/beavercares

The annual Kiwanis Club of Carmichael 4th of July Pancake Breakfast is coming up on…the 4th of July! Tickets are only $5 for pancakes, sausage, fruit, juice, milk, and coffee. Come start your holiday with us! Tickets will be available at the door at the Carmichael Park clubhouse

Last Wednesday, the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael’s meeting was taken over by the outgoing and incoming presidents and treasurer of the American River College Circle K. Circle K is the college equivalent of Kiwanis, a community service club dedicated to projects that help children. They did a great job taking over our meeting, but even more impressive was the number of service projects and events they did over the past year while also taking their college classes. They are an impressive group of young people!

Thank you to everyone who came out to make the 21st annual Taste of Carmichael a great success, including the guests, vendors, and Wasted Space band. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael, but it’s also just a great community event. It was a delicious night!

It’s an “all hands on deck” morning for the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael setting up for tonight’s 21st annual Taste of Carmichael. This event will feature 42 of the best restaurants, breweries, and wineries in and around Carmichael. Tickets are still available for this 21+ event. You can purchase tickets at the door at the La Sierra community center on at 5325 Engle Road. Tickets are $80 per person.
