This Saturday, Behn Gallery will look a little different.

Artist Emmy Paints is bringing **TRANSCEND** to the gallery. This is an artist-led exhibition featuring 30 new paintings exploring struggle, transformation, and triumph, along with a live painting demonstration during the evening.

One of the things I value about having a working gallery is the opportunity, when the fit is right, to make space for other artists to share not only finished work, but some of the story and creative process behind it.

That matters to me.

Whether it’s a painter, photographer, musician, or another kind of maker, I think our relationship with art changes when we have an opportunity to understand something about the person who created it...what they were exploring, what motivated the work, and what happened along the way.

That idea is very much connected to what we try to do at Behn: make art more approachable, create opportunities for conversation and discovery, and help people connect with the work on the walls as something more than decoration.

TRANSCEND is Emmy’s exhibition, and we’re glad to provide the space for her to share it with her audience and ours.

My own Behn Gallery artwork will remain on display as well, so visitors will have an opportunity to experience both bodies of work throughout the evening.
