NepRWA and Greater Boston Trout Unlimited partnered with the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife to conduct a fish survey at Traphole Brook in Norwood using electrofishing.

Marking the fifth consecutive year of surveying since the dam was removed, today’s team saw numerous brook trout, and lower water temperatures due to bank shading.

These findings highlight the critical role dam removals play in restoring fish passage and helping native brook trout populations thrive.

We're seeking volunteers of all ages, to help clean and restore parks and waterways across the Watershed. Site captains are especially needed! We provide all the cleanup gear—you bring the magic!

Join the Neponset mural crew!

Plan to stay for an hour or a day. Or hop off the trail and paint for a few minutes. No art skills needed, all ages and abilities welcomed. We work with fine artist and local painter, Vincent Crotty of Dorchester.

“Vincent and the Volunteers” have restored several of the Greenway’s dozen murals recently. The current work in the Butler Street MBTA underpass tunnel is Crotty’s own design, a triptych featuring scenes from the marsh.

We’re organizing more painting days now—lots more to do and lots of trail folk to meet!

Did you know the Neponset River Watershed is home to more than 330,000 people?

It stretches across 14 communities and includes everything from the Blue Hills and Fowl Meadow to the Neponset Estuary and Boston Harbor.

The Watershed has supported people for years, and it continues to provide clean water, wildlife habitat, and places to get outside and explore.

It's an incredible resource worth getting to know and protecting!
