What watershed do you live in?
A watershed, also referred to as a drainage basin, is the land area that delivers rain and snow/ice melt to a stream or lake. Every home, business, and farm in Michigan is in a watershed!

We need your help! Get out and enjoy some spring weather and volunteer as part of Friends of the Rouge's Spring Bug Hunt!

Join your Friends at the 2026 Spring Bug Hunt! 🪳

Join your fellow bug hunters for a community-wide effort to monitor aquatic invertebrates! The 2026 Spring Bug Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Volunteers will visit sites throughout the Rouge River watershed in teams to help search for the “bugs” that live in the river. 💧The presence or absence of these streambed creatures reflects the quality of the water and habitat. No prior experience is necessary, but pre-registration is required. Children eight and older are welcome when accompanied by a participating adult.

Spring really is coming - we promise!! As you get ready for spring, sweep your garage or driveway and dispose of it in the trash before you hose it down or power wash it so the contaminants don't end up with the water in the storm drain. For more information of how to practice healthy habits with household chemicals visit https://www.allianceofrougecommunities.com/chemapp.html
