As we begin to plan for the next annual training conference we want to say a small thanks to our partners who made the 2026 Annual Training Conference - Hands On - Vehicle Burn possible!

We would like to thank General Motors for the training vehicles used for live burn scenarios and their engineers for being present to educate our members.

We thank our board members from the ATF, MSP, and Oakland County Sheriff Office for all the hard work setting up our scenarios prior and for teaching on the day of the training.

We appreciate the use of McGuirk’s Gravel pit, help from Greens Towing for the delivery our training aids and the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department for assisting with the live burns!

Last month we were able to gather for the 2026 MIIAAI Annual Training Conference in Mt. Pleasant, MI.

We had so many great speakers on the topics of Vehicle Fires to include explosions, auto theft, and a live burn with vehicles courtesy of General Motors. NICB gave insight on how they can assist with investigations.

We learned so much in our session on Fatal Fires with Dr. Elayne Pope of Fatal Fire Research and Education.

There were lessons on the use of Audio/Visual Technology to further our cases and the use of Drones at our scenes.

We also hosted an Awards Luncheon to recognize our Investigators and Prosector of the Year.

Please keep following for future training opportunities! The 2027 MIIAAI Annual Training Conference will be held again in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan from May 24-27, 2027.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend the International IAAI Photography Course that was taught in Saginaw, MI earlier this month. We are grateful for those who attended from out of state and Canada, and our instructor Patrick Barker from North Carolina for taking the time out of his schedule to further these students' knowledge of photography.
