We have a holiday weekend coming up! Do you have your Relapse Prevention Plan set? Sponsor number on deck? Meetings lined up you can attend? Recovery doesn’t take holidays off — and neither should our spiritual maintenance. One meeting, one prayer, one phone call can change the direction of your entire weekend.
Here’s how to build a simple Relapse Prevention Plan:
• Identify your triggers ahead of time
(Holidays, loneliness, family stress, boredom, parties, isolation, overconfidence)
• Have support ready
Keep your sponsor’s number close and let trusted recovery people know if you’re struggling.
• Schedule your meetings BEFORE the weekend starts
Online meetings count too. Don’t wait until temptation hits.
• Make a plan for cravings
Pray. Call someone. Leave unsafe environments. Read literature. Go for a walk. Worship. Journal.
• Avoid high-risk places and people
Protect your peace. “Just stopping by” can become a relapse quickly.
• Keep your mind spiritually fed
Prayer, Scripture, meetings, service work, podcasts, devotionals — stay connected.
• Have an emergency action plan
If your thinking starts shifting, act immediately instead of sitting in it alone.
Recovery is not just about avoiding substances — it’s about protecting the life God is rebuilding. Stay close, stay honest, and stay connected this weekend.
We’d love to have you join us in person Friday night, but if you can’t make it- check out this link to Recovery Alive Inc for an online option!
