CAIR MI CAIR-MI is a civil rights nonprofit organization which promotes justice and mutual understanding through education, mediation, media and the law.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations Michigan Chapter (CAIR-MI) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) grassroots civil rights and advocacy group. The organization is affiliated with America’s largest Islamic civil liberties group, CAIR, whose headquarters is located in Washington D.C. Through media and government relations, education and advocacy, CAIR-MI puts forth an Islamic perspective to ensure the Muslim voice is represented. In offering this perspective, CAIR seeks to empower the American Muslim community and encourage their participation in political and social activism.

CAIR-MI is seeking a Civil Rights Legal Associate to join our Legal Department and help advance civil rights, religious liberty, and justice throughout Michigan.

We are looking for a talented attorney or experienced paralegal/legal professional with strong legal research, writing, investigation, and case-development skills. The position will support civil rights litigation, administrative matters, legal advocacy, religious accommodation cases, and community education.

⚖️ Full-Time | Michigan
📚 Preferred: 2–5 years of relevant legal experience

CONSTITUTION DAY | RIGHTS ONLY MATTER IF WE DEFEND THEM.

The Constitution was never meant to be a promise we simply celebrate. It is a promise that must be invoked, protected, and defended—especially when doing so is difficult.

At CAIR-MI, that work happens every day.

We stand with students exercising their right to speak. We defend Muslims facing discrimination because of their faith. We challenge government overreach. We fight for due process, religious liberty, equal protection, and the right of our communities to organize, protest, worship, and live without fear.

Constitutional rights are not self-enforcing. They survive because people are willing to use them—and because organizations are willing to fight for them.

On Constitution Day, we recommit ourselves to standing firm.

We’re Hiring: Director of Safe Spaces

Help us build environments where Muslims can practice their faith openly, confidently, and without discrimination.

The Director of Safe Spaces will lead advocacy, education, training, and partnership initiatives designed to make schools, workplaces, public institutions, and other spaces more inclusive of Islamic religious practice and expression.

The Director will work with community members and institutional leaders to advance meaningful accommodations for prayer, Ramadan, Eid, hijab and modest dress, religious grooming, halal food, and other expressions of faith.

Our goal is bigger than responding to discrimination—we want to normalize and protect Islamic practice in American society by helping institutions build religious inclusion into their policies and everyday practices.

We’re looking for a strong communicator, educator, relationship-builder, and advocate who believes lasting change happens through advocacy, education, dialogue, and partnership.
