💔 SEVEN DOGS. ONE ELDERLY COUPLE. AND A STORY THAT HAS ABSOLUTELY BROKEN OUR HEARTS. 💔🐾
Sometimes rescue isn’t just about saving animals. Sometimes it’s about helping the people who gave everything they had to save them first.
An elderly gentleman came across SEVEN DOGS wandering the streets, starving, hungry, and desperately needing someone to care!
He could have turned his head. He could have kept driving. He could have told himself they weren’t his responsibility.
But he didn’t. 💔
Instead, he opened his heart and took them in.
He didn’t have a lot of money. His own health was bad, but he stepped up. Fast forward a couple months & he could no longer care for these dogs, so his friend stepped up to help him..
He took them in & fed them. He gave them somewhere to belong. He made sure seven forgotten souls knew that somebody in this world cared whether they lived or died.
But now, 3 months later, the man who stepped up to save these seven dogs needs someone to step up for HIM. 😭
This gentleman is battling serious health problems. He shared with us that he has a tumor and just had surgery for an aneurysm. His health is declining, and the financial burden of caring for seven dogs has become more than he can manage.
Since both men have struggled w/ major health issues & they did not have the resources that rescues have, none of these dogs have been spayed or neutered yet. Not because he didn’t care. Not because he didn’t want to do right by them.
But because sometimes people are doing the very best they can with the very little they have.
And I wish more people understood that. 💔
Can you imagine being in his position?
Knowing your health is failing you. Knowing you have serious medical problems to face. And on top of everything else, worrying about what will happen to seven innocent dogs who have come to depend on him.
This elderly man didn’t ask to become their rescuer.
And he certainly didn’t ask to become sick.
Yet here they all are, depending on the kindness of strangers to help them through another chapter of uncertainty.
When Delilah’s Hope Rescue learned about this situation, we knew we couldn’t just turn our backs.
We have a 2 dogs a week plan to get them fixed, vaccines & whatever they may need to hopefully get them into a new foster or adopter home!🐾
But the reality is, our rescue is already stretched incredibly thin. Our kennels are full, our finances are strained, and we simply cannot do this without help from our community.
🐾 WE ARE DESPERATELY SEARCHING FOR:
❤️ ADOPTERS — Seven dogs who deserve loving, permanent homes where they will never have to worry about being forgotten again.
🏡 FOSTER FAMILIES — People willing to open their homes and give these dogs a safe place while we work toward finding their forever families.
💉 FINANCIAL SPONSORS — We desperately need donations to help cover the cost of spaying and neutering all seven dogs, along with any additional veterinary care they may need.
Even if you cannot adopt or foster, a donation of $5, $10, or $20 can help us get one step closer to making sure these dogs are taken care of.
🙏 PLEASE, THINK ABOUT THIS FOR JUST A MOMENT.
An elderly man, fighting his own health battles, still found enough love in his heart to help seven starving dogs that the world had seemingly forgotten.
Now it’s our turn to show him that he hasn’t been forgotten either.
I want this gentleman to be able to focus on his health without lying awake at night worrying about what will happen to these dogs.
I want him to know that the kindness he showed seven helpless animals mattered.
That his compassion wasn’t wasted.
That there are still good people in this world who will step up when someone else can no longer carry the weight alone.
He was there for them when nobody else was.
Please, help us be there for them now. 💔

Somewhere out there are seven families who don’t even know yet that their best friend is waiting for them. The dogs will come w/ a 10'×10' chain link kennel, bowls, and a dog house & be fully vetted!!
And somewhere tonight is an elderly man who deserves the peace of knowing that the seven lives he saved will be okay.
Let’s give him that peace. Let’s finish what his kindness started. 🐾💔
Seven lives. Seven chances. One community that can make all the difference.
