I've been waiting patiently to see how this thing pans out. Right now it looks like VZ will start getting some big rain on Wednesday into Thursday. Here's the 7 day outlook:

So close, yet so far!

An outflow boundary (dashed yellow line) will move through the DFW Metroplex over the next 90 minutes or so, bringing gusty winds, scattered storms, and slightly cooler temps behind it. Main threats from storms are lightning and strong wind gusts, but we can't rule out a few damaging wind gusts or small hail.

Special weather statement until 2:15 pm 9/5 for the areas east of Tyler including Mineola, Kilgore, Henderson, Longview. Strong storms with 40mph winds indicated. (Yay rain!)

As hunters head outdoors this weekend, remember that many activities associated with hunting and camping can accidentally start a wildfire.

Vehicles, trailers, ATVs/UTVs and campfires can all cause wildfires when conditions are dry.

Before heading out...
🔥 Check local burn bans and restrictions
🔥Avoid driving or parking on dry grass
🔥Make sure trailer chains don’t drag on the road
🔥Always fully extinguish campfires before leaving

With firefighters currently responding to wildfires across Texas, everyone can do their part to help prevent the next one.

Follow Wildfire Education & Prevention - Texas A&M Forest Service for more wildfire prevention tips.

It’s raining!!🌧️

Another Moderate Risk for heavy rain and flash flooding has been issued for tomorrow for Palestine, TX and surrounding areas.

Heavy, training rainfall associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Edouard is expected tonight into Thursday morning, with localized totals of 8 inches or more possible. Still lots of uncertainty because it’s really gonna come down to where the heaviest rain bands set up.

While the rain is welcome after the recent drought, too much too quickly could lead to dangerous flash flooding. Be weather-aware overnight and never drive through flooded roads.
