Happening now: the monthly Warrant Recall and Expungement event at the Camden County Navigational Resource Center at 1812 Federal Street, Camden. In addition to warrant and expungements, the office will be providing reentry services, housing assistance, mental health and substance use treatment, identification assistance, and veterans assistance. The event will run from now until 2 pm.

On Friday Congressman Donald Norcross took a tour of the Regan Center, the 23-bed men’s emergency shelter and medical respite program built by the Camden County Government Commissioners, and run by VOADV. The outcomes of the five years since the shelter was opened is a testament to what can happen when social services and government work hand in hand to support the community. We were proud to host the Congressman to discuss the successes of the center, and the needs facing our clients both at Regan and all of our shelters.

President and CEO Kathy-White Thomas had this to say about the new shelter championed by the Camden County Board of Commissioners:

McKernan, Jr. Supportive Housing Community is the next chapter in the ongoing story of Camden County’s commitment to supporting its residents, in meeting them where they are, and in providing the best possible service to them. It was our pleasure to join many members of our community including NJ Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin in attending the Cathedral Kitchen Open House this afternoon to help honor their 50 years of commitment to service to others.

Cathedral Kitchen has long been a partner to VOADV in meeting those in need where they are and helping the whole person. Among other things, we engage them to provide twice daily healthy meals to the clients at all of our residential programs, and they enroll our clients in their culinary arts training program. Congratulations to Cathedral Kitchen for 50 years, and here's to at least 50 more!

The Veteran Homeless Prevention Assistance Program made possible by a grant from the Home Depot Foundation is housing assistance that can be used to cover costs not covered by SSVF or other government funding for veterans and veteran household. Costs include things like rapid re-housing payments for rental applications, security deposits, first month’s rent, or moving costs made directly to the third party on behalf of the client.

A Housing Choice Landlord Guarantee Program designed to provide financial assistance to landlords to mitigate damages caused by tenants as a result of their occupancy.

Applicant or application household must be a qualifying veteran - a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable and reside in the VOADV service area. All applicants will be screened for eligibility.
