Talk to a Lawyer is back at CK next Thursday from 1-5 PM!

We are grateful for our partnership with Campbell's and Volunteer UP Legal Clinic to have the opportunity to provide this service to our guests quarterly!

We recommend getting to CK by 4 PM on June 11 if you want to see a lawyer due to demand and long wait times.

Class 39 of our Culinary Arts Training program is already in their fourth week and they're not messing around—I mean look at those knife skills already!

They are slowly moving out of the classroom setting and beginning to experiment with their own cooking techniques and flavors. This week, they split up into teams to practice Garde Manger (cold cooking). They made their own salads, dressings, and toppings and presented them to the CK staff.

Stay tuned for more updates as they hone their skills!

Every Thursday we get to work with these amazing partners from Cooper University Health Care's Medical Bus to serve our guests here at Cathedral Kitchen

The mobile unit provides addiction treatment for patients who are struggling with opioid, alcohol, and stimulant use disorders. They also offer wound care for xylazine-related skin injuries, basic urgent care services, infection treatment, and connections to primary care providers at Cooper locations in Camden. They also provide blood pressure and blood sugar screenings.

“Working with CK has been an amazing opportunity to interact with and offer services to a population who might not be familiar with Cooper's Addiction services, particularly those experiencing some kind of housing insecurity," shared Dr. Emily Tixier, Addiction Medicine Physician at the Cooper Medical Unit.

The mobile unit meets people where they are. For many of our guests, scheduling, transportation issues, lack of insurance, and fear of stigma or discrimination prevent them from getting the care they need and deserve.

Since 1976, Cathedral Kitchen has worked to ensure that everyone in our community has access to free, nutritious food for themselves and their families. But our mission has always gone beyond the meals themselves. From the beginning, we’ve been committed to creating a culture of kindness, generosity, and dignity for every guest who walks through our doors. Today, we offer much more than meals.

Yet despite our efforts and the efforts of thousands of organizations, mutual aid groups, and community members, food insecurity continues to impact families across our communities. And hunger doesn’t exist alone. It intersects with economic and social challenges that make it harder for people and families to get back on their feet. It also contributes to serious health outcomes and can deepen cycles of instability within communities; contributing to crime, homelessness, and mental health challenges.

This , we want to highlight the power of food to nourish our communities with more than just calories. Food creates connection, builds community, and brings people together while helping connect neighbors to the resources and support they need to thrive.
