Every Thursday we get to work with these amazing partners from Cooper University Health Care's Medical Bus to serve our guests here at Cathedral Kitchen
The mobile unit provides addiction treatment for patients who are struggling with opioid, alcohol, and stimulant use disorders. They also offer wound care for xylazine-related skin injuries, basic urgent care services, infection treatment, and connections to primary care providers at Cooper locations in Camden. They also provide blood pressure and blood sugar screenings.
“Working with CK has been an amazing opportunity to interact with and offer services to a population who might not be familiar with Cooper's Addiction services, particularly those experiencing some kind of housing insecurity," shared Dr. Emily Tixier, Addiction Medicine Physician at the Cooper Medical Unit.
The mobile unit meets people where they are. For many of our guests, scheduling, transportation issues, lack of insurance, and fear of stigma or discrimination prevent them from getting the care they need and deserve.
