🔥🚒 Fire Prevention Week! 🚒🔥

This week is Fire Prevention Week, and we were thankful to welcome students from Callaway Elementary School to the firehouse on Monday!

The kids had the opportunity to visit the firehouse, see some of our equipment, meet our firefighters, and most importantly, learn about fire safety and prevention. Teaching children what to do in an emergency and how to help prevent fires is an important part of keeping our community safe.

A big thank you to Callaway Elementary for coming to visit us! We enjoyed having everyone and hope the kids had a great time while learning some important fire safety lessons.

🔥 Remember: Fire safety starts at home!

We appreciate the Roanoke Times taking time to write this article. Chief Webb has dedicated the majority of his life serving the people of Callaway and continues to do so!

James Webb was elected chief of a rural, Franklin County fire department 20 years after helping to form it. He was reelected for 42 years, until deciding to step down ⤵️ Find a link to the story in the comments.

Today, the members of the Callaway Volunteer Fire Department pause to remember the lives forever changed by the events of September 11, 2001.

We honor the 343 firefighters and 60 law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to help others. We remember the EMS providers, military members, and countless civilians who lost their lives that day.

Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to others will never be forgotten.

As firefighters and first responders, we carry their memory with us every time we answer a call. We are reminded that our duty is not simply a job — it is a commitment to our communities and to one another.

Never Forgotten.
Always Honored.
Always Remembered.
