Took a lot of work to get the old abandoned plastic mulch off this ground and then plow it late in the spring for this planting. It's a start at producing food using truly traditional methods, with much consideration for environmental quality and in fact - soil restoration. This young woman is in a masters program at Virginia Tech and is serving an apprenticeship with Healing Harvest Forest Foundation awarded by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities. She is also an accomplished musician and teaches at the Handmade Music school at the Floyd Country store. I'm a fan and a mentor of hers.
