After this, we will go to a wait list if any future spots open up. We have had a LOT of new rider applications this year (along with returning riders!) and we are so excited to see everyone in just a few weeks.

Butte Special Riders - 2026 T-Shirt Sponsorship Opportunities!

We are excited to announce the opportunity for businesses and individuals to support the Butte Special Riders by becoming a sponsor for our 2026 Volunteer & Rider T-Shirts!

Sponsorship Details:

🐴 Contribution Amount: Each sponsorship costs $250.
🐴 Logo Placement: Sponsors' logos will be prominently featured on the back of all 2026 volunteer and student t-shirts.
🐴 Online Recognition: Your support will be acknowledged on our website for the entire year.

We need YOU to help our riders soar this summer!

We are still looking for passionate volunteers to join us for the 2026 season! Whether you’re a seasoned "horse person" or simply looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community, there is a place for you in our arena.

As a volunteer, you are the backbone of our program. You provide the vital safety and encouragement our riders need. No prior horse experience is required. We provide all the training you need...you just provide the heart!

Volunteers are the heart of the Butte Special Riders program!

They are the steady presence beside each rider, the encouragement during challenges, and the reason our program can safely serve our community.

They are real life superheroes! Every rider depends on a team...and that team starts with people willing to step in and help.

BSR sessions take place on Mondays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the following dates:

Session 1: June 8, 15, 22, and 29
Session 2: July 13, 20, 27, and August 3

Our 2026 Butte Special Riders sessions are set and our planning for this summer is in full swing!

Session 1: June 8, 15, 22, and 29
Session 2: July 13, 20, 27, and August 3

Daily sessions are held on the days listed above (Mondays) at 9:00 AM, 9:45 AM, 10:30 AM, and 11:15 AM, with riders assigned a 45-minute time slot based on ability and age.

During the session, each student is paired with a BSR horse and supported by volunteers, while an instructor leads them through lessons and exercises. With this support, students learn to communicate with and guide their horses using voice, sound, body language, and touch.

We are looking forward to another season at the barn and cannot wait to see both new and returning riders.

2025 BSR Annual Horse Show Recap!

Despite the less-than-perfect weather, the smiles never stopped at this year’s Annual Horse Show, our biggest fundraiser of the year …and one of the most fun, laid-back, and heartwarming days you can imagine!

From exciting show classes and a special BSR demonstration to the fan-favorite costume contest (the costumes get better every year!), egg & spoon and ride-a-buck challenges, riders of all ages brought their best. But let’s be honest - the most competitive event of the day? The stick horse race!

Every laugh, cheer, and ribbon helps support our mission to provide riding opportunities for youth with special needs, and we couldn’t do it without this amazing community.

Thank you to our incredible sponsors, hardworking volunteers, Judge Ashlee Schumacher, announcer Erin, decorators Nancy and Char, organizers Britt, Barb, Stella, and Linda…and especially to our amazing hosts (and heroes!), Joani and Jim Kissock for giving us this incredible place to learn, grow, and ride together.
