Call your representatives

Last week, permitting reform legislation was introduced in the Senate that rewrites Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act — substantially weakening protections for historic places across Montana and the United States.

The bill removes public voice and curtails consultation with State and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices, narrows the definition of what counts as an undertaking, imposes rigid deadlines, and limits what's considered an adverse effect.

Preserve Montana strongly opposes these harmful provisions and is reaching out to Senators Daines and Sheehy asking them to do the same. We need your help. 🆘

The Senate is expected to move quickly on this bill after the midterm elections — your voice will be critical.

👉 Call or write Senators Daines & Sheehy by November 9 and urge them to oppose the Bipartisan American Affordability & Jobs Act.

2 N. Carson Street, a building used to house 10 governor's will be turned into a greenspace and the property will be kept by the state.

These historic materials are available at reasonable prices, and the proceeds help fund Butte CPR’s many projects - particularly the Historic Improvement Grants.
