What’s better than a team lunch with a little friendly competition? For our October birthday celebration, we had our First Annual ANR and NDC Dip Off featuring all kinds of delicious dips. From sweet to savory, no dip was left untasted. In the end, we crowned 3 winners: Street Corn Smackdown took first place, World Famous Dill Dip came in second, and Pizza Dip came in third. Thank you to everyone who participated, and happy birthday to our team celebrating in October!

Every new skill learned and friendship formed builds confidence, connection, and independence. Our Family Liaison team created Armstrong County’s Friendship & Learning Hub to help people of all ages with intellectual disabilities and autism build life skills, form meaningful relationships, and grow their confidence.

We’re excited to share that we’ve received a grant from the Armstrong County Community Foundation to support the Friendship & Learning Hub. Thank you to the Foundation for helping make these opportunities possible!

We want to extend a big congratulations to Tracey Boarts, our Payroll Specialist, for passing the Fundamental Payroll Certification! She put a lot of heart, soul, and determination into taking this test, and we’re so proud we could support her on this journey. This certification through PayrollOrg is a milestone for HR professionals, certifying their expertise in all things payroll.

Teresa Hewitt, COO and Assistant Executive Director, couldn’t have better things to say about Tracey and her accomplishment: “As we all know, payroll is constantly changing, and Tracey makes a tremendous effort to stay on top of those changes and keep learning. Making a difference, one life at a time!

Recently, Family Liaisons Kayla Seyler and Jamie Smoyer, organized a small-group learning session where their participants learned and practiced important life skills like personal hygiene, healthy relationships, boundaries, and everything in between. And they finished up with a rousing game of Bingo!

These small group sessions are just one of the ways our family liaisons provide comprehensive support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families. Seeing the smiles and teaching life-changing skills is just one of the reasons why we love what we do here at ANR!
