Healthy lungs start with healthy choices!

Our To***co Program Manager, Cat Aranda, recently brought Why Animals Don’t Smoke to students at Abiding Missions.

From giraffes 🦒 and cheetahs 🐆 to turtles 🐢 and more, students met some fun animal friends while learning about healthy lungs, clean air, and making to***co-free choices.

We're excited to share that Breathe Pennsylvania has received a grant from Hillman Foundation to support the expansion of our School Asthma Initiative in Allegheny County.

This funding will allow us to expand asthma education and resources to more schools, students, families, and school staff, helping children better manage their asthma so they can stay healthy, active, and ready to learn.

We are grateful for this investment in the health and well-being of our community and the opportunity to continue expanding this important work.

What a fun day at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium! 🦁🐧💙

Last Saturday, we welcomed families from our School Asthma Initiative for a day filled with fun, learning, and unforgettable memories. Families explored the zoo together, enjoyed lunch, met some amazing animals during a special animal encounter, and completed a zoo passport full of activities along the way!

At Breathe PA, we're committed to helping children with asthma and their families thrive, not just through education and support, but by creating opportunities to connect, explore, and make lasting memories together.

Thank you to all of the families who joined us and helped make this event such a success. We loved spending the day with you and can't wait to do it again!

Last month, Breathe PA's Program Associate, Tori Amsler & Lung Health Program Manager, Kristy Steele, presented "Breathing Easy at School: Practical Asthma Support for Every Classroom" at the Regional School Leaders' Wellness Conference in Erie.

Their session spoke about bringing asthma support to life with practical strategies schools can actually use. From missed class time to participation in everyday activities, asthma has a bigger impact on students than many realize. Through interactive discussion and real-world examples, participants learned how to recognize early warning signs, reduce triggers, and support staff in responding with confidence.

Thanks for all you do, Tori and Kristy!
