Right now, only six state legislatures are still in session, which leaves California and North Carolina running through August, and Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania grinding on into the winter. Everywhere else, the lights are already off.

Whoopsie, 307 voters. Better luck next time.

In fact, Shelby County dropped the same four judicial races from ballots TWICE this cycle.

The first time, 700 absentee voters were affected, but county could identify them, so they got supplemental ballots.

307 in-person voters used one bad machine. The county can’t trace who used it, so they got nothing. Case closed.

Same error. Same races. Same county. The only difference is whether the process was built to find the voter. When the record exists, the cure exists.

We. Need. Better. Processes.
