Clear Creek Wood Bank recently hosted our annual volunteer appreciation picnic. We are grateful to all our volunteers who help us meet our mission of keeping families warm throughout the winter!

Special thank you to JL&Sons Logging for the space to host this event and all the Buffalo businesses (Ace Hardware, Sports Lure, DJs Grocery, Bomgaars, Cowboy Bar and Grill, Tavern 307, Buffalo Drifter, and the Embroidery Barn) who provided special raffle prizes for our volunteers.

Our volunteers have been busy beavers (wood splitters) over the last few weeks! 30 cords have already been split for this winter. 💪

Now that summer is around the corner, it's time to start preparing for next winter's firewood supply. Our volunteers started the work of splitting firewood, while learning how to operate different parts of the wood splitter, and the use of other equipment that supports the process.

Clear Creek Wood Bank has been awarded our first grant of 2026 from Alliance for Green Heat for $14,298! These grant funds were used to purchase additional firewood harvested from federal land timber sales and for partial ownership of the wood processor we use for the wood bank. We are excited to take this next step, securing our future with a wood processor!

The wood processor is in place and ready to start processing logs this summer with the help of many volunteers.

Clear Creek Wood Bank would like to give a huge thank you to The Chimney Guy, from Story, Wyoming! The Chimney Guy donated time and resources to repair the wood bank's stove pipe, wood stove, install a floor protector in the warming hut, and add a metal roof to the woodshed. We are grateful for these special upgrades and the support from a local business. 🥰

Clear Creek Wood Bank's Annual Report is here! Last winter, the wood bank provided 137 cords of split firewood to 959 families, from 11 different Wyoming communities, a value of $34,250! Our 82 volunteers gave over 1,816 hours of time to the wood bank, helping to meet our mission throughout last year.

We had special donations given to the wood bank from private landowners donating wood, to local Buffalo schools giving time and resources, or local businesses helping to improve our infrastructure.

The wood bank also established a board of directors and were awarded grants to ensure there will be wood heat for families next winter. ❤️

Thank you to the Buffalo Bulletin for their recent visit and article about Clear Creek Wood Bank! We are grateful to have a local newspaper to that can cover the positive impact the wood bank has made on families within Wyoming communities. ❤️🪵❤️

While it’s been a milder winter than usual, usage at the Clear Creek Wood Bank was still up again this year.
