HAPPY FEAST OF ST. MOSES THE BLACK!

Today we celebrate the patron saint of Ablaze Youth Outreach and a saint whose story gets right to the heart of our mission.

St. Moses had a past. A BIG one. But when he encountered a community that saw beyond his mistakes and refused to give up on him, everything changed. He encountered Christ. He found belonging. And his life was transformed.

That’s what we want for every young person who walks through our doors.

A place to be known.
A place to belong.
A place to be challenged.
A place to encounter Christ.

Because your past doesn’t define your future, and no one is beyond the transforming power of God’s grace.

Ablaze Parish Missions places missionaries directly in parishes, where they invest in young people, accompany families, form volunteers, and help communities grow into vibrant places of faith.

Here at Ablaze, we have two ways you can say yes:

🔥 JPII Track | 1 Year: Give one intentional year to mission…serving, growing, and discerning where the Lord may be calling you next.

🔥 Bosco Track | 3 Years: Go deeper through a three-year commitment to missionary discipleship, leadership, and long-term investment in a parish community.

We’re excited to announce our keynote speaker for our 2026 Boerne Benefit Dinner: Mr. Stan Laing!

For four decades, Stan has shaped the lives of students, coaches, and educators across Texas; but what makes us especially excited to welcome him is his deep passion for mentorship, relationships, and walking alongside young people and those who serve them.

Ablaze is officially 15 YEARS OLD! Which means we are now old enough for a learner’s permit!

A few important things as Ablaze enters this exciting new season of life:
* Ablaze may now operate a motor vehicle, but only with a responsible adult present.
* Ablaze will begin asking if it can stay out later because “everyone else’s nonprofit gets to.”
* Ablaze is expected to become increasingly expensive to feed.
* Ablaze already thinks it knows everything.
* Please do not give Ablaze the aux cord.
* We have approximately one year before Ablaze starts asking to borrow the car.

In all seriousness, 15 years of Ablaze is worth celebrating! Fifteen years of missionaries, youth ministry, and outreach; ridiculous ideas; big leaps of faith; lives changed; and the Lord being incredibly faithful to this mission.

Thank you all for celebrating this milestone with us and supporting our ministry throughout the years!

And please drive carefully. Ablaze is watching.

Alright, who pressed the fast-forward button on summer?!?!

Seriously, what a joy it has been to journey with so many students at Ablaze this summer! Our teams have been playing hard and praying hard; from mini golf and Frisbee Fridays to praise and worship, discipleship, and mission trips to Louisiana and San Juan, Texas. We even spent a week growing together as a team during our Summer Formation Week!

We’re incredibly grateful for the benefactors, families, students, and volunteers who make summers like this possible.

Now we’re locked in and ready for a new school year of serving our communities in Waco, Bryan, and Boerne, and we can’t wait to see and share how the Lord moves!

We’re thrilled to welcome Krystle Hartley to the Ablaze team as our Coordinator of Youth Outreach in Boerne!

Krystle will be leading our outreach efforts as we continue expanding our newest AYO mission site, building relationships with young people and bringing the hope of Christ into our community. With her background in law enforcement, her heart for mission, and her passion for accompanying young people, she brings a unique blend of courage, compassion, and servant leadership to this role.

We couldn’t be more excited to have her on mission with us!
