Defying Limitations: The Resilient Spirit of Clarence T. Wiggins
In every community, there are individuals whose lives remind us that adversity does not have to determine the limits of what is possible. Some people face challenges that could easily become barriers, yet they choose to keep moving forward, growing, creating, and finding new ways to live life fully. Clarence T. Wiggins, affectionately known as Mr. Robo, is one of those individuals.
Since October 24, 2017, Mr. Robo has been living life as a right-leg amputee following a Factor V blood clot disorder. As a blood clot survivor, his journey has required him to navigate life from a slightly different angle and perspective. Rather than allowing his circumstances to define him, he has embraced his journey with determination, humor, creativity, and an unwavering desire to keep working on his greatness.
Mr. Robo’s story is one of resilience. He continues to challenge himself both mentally and physically, remaining dedicated to personal growth and accessibility. His journey demonstrates that living with a disability does not mean giving up on movement, purpose, dreams, or the desire to experience life to the fullest.
He describes himself as living life with extra titanium and a lot of momentum—and that spirit is evident in the way he continues to move forward. His perspective encourages others to look beyond limitations and recognize the possibilities that can exist when we choose to adapt, persevere, and keep going.
Mr. Robo is also passionate about representation and community. As the owner of Amp Brothers Clothing, he has created a clothing line that represents the amputee community in his own way of showing love and support. Through his business, he uses creativity and entrepreneurship to bring visibility to a community that deserves to be seen, celebrated, and represented.
His work reminds us that pride can take many forms. Pride is found in embracing who you are, recognizing the journey that brought you here, and refusing to allow someone else’s definition of ability to determine your worth. Mr. Robo embodies that kind of pride through the way he lives, creates, connects, and continues to move forward.
His dedication to accessibility is another important part of his journey. By remaining active mentally and physically and speaking from his own lived experience, he helps bring awareness to the importance of creating spaces where everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute, and thrive.
What makes Mr. Robo’s story so powerful is that he does not simply talk about overcoming obstacles—he lives it. Every step forward represents perseverance. Every accomplishment represents another reminder that life can continue to hold purpose and possibility, even when the path looks different than expected.
In every community, there are people whose resilience becomes an inspiration to others. Clarence T. Wiggins, Mr. Robo, is one of those individuals. His strength, creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to personal growth remind us that our circumstances may shape our journey, but they do not have to define our destination.
We proudly honor Mr. Robo for embracing his journey, representing the amputee community with pride, and continuing to move forward with purpose, courage, and momentum.
