A weakening Tropical Storm Bertha will be approaching the Upper Texas Coast late Thursday morning/early afternoon before becoming a Tropical Depression once it makes landfall. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Chambers County and the coastal portions of Galveston and Brazoria counties, including Galveston Bay and northern waters, through 6 AM on Friday. Efforts should be underway to protect life and property in the vulnerable areas.

⚠️NEW (10am): DEPRESSION TWO FORMS. Initial NHC track has it in HOUSTON by FRIDAY.

+ This is just the initial track, and many variations can still occur. At this point, possibly running over land midweek, could throw a significant wrench into this track. There’s a few opportunities for this system to veer off north in the coming week. Bottom line: plenty to watch, and no reason to panic.

+ If this storm does interact over land mid-week, as it appears it might, that could have mitigating and complicating factors for evolution.

+ As always, please stay apprised for changes. Much more will become clear after we get a defined COC and more data. Please spread the word and stay apprised.

🚨 PUBLIC NOTICE🚨

The Brazoria County Mosquito Control District has identified West Nile Virus in one mosquito trap collected and tested on June 24, 2026.

📍 The mosquito trap was located at:
Brookside Road and Eiker in Brookside Village

Mosquito Control will spray the affected area twice nightly for the next three nights. The area will be retested next week.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions to prevent mosquito bites by using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants when outdoors, and removing standing water around their homes.

Conditions will be somewhat favorable for the development of a brief tropical depression or tropical storm Wednesday-Thursday over the NW Gulf.

Regardless of development, the primary concern remains periods of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Though heavy rainfall is possible areawide (SE Texas), the highest risk of flash flooding over the next few days will be across our southern and coastal counties.
