St. John's Bread & Life One of the largest emergency food pantry programs in Brooklyn. Since 1982, St. We serve more than 3,000 meals to hungry New Yorkers every day.

John’s Bread & Life has worked to alleviate hunger and poverty in Brooklyn and Queens. During Covid our services have tripled. We are currently open Monday through Thursday from 8-2. We also provide the following crucial services:

Medical care (provided by Care for the Homeless)
Legal counseling (provided by Urban Justice)
Case Management Services SNAP, Medicare, Medicaid, referrals for housing

assistance and employment
virtual case management services-by appointment until further notice. Grab and Go hot breakfast and lunch available at our take out window from 10-12
Pantry available M-Thrs. 8-1
To register for pantry please bring ID with proof of address, date of birth and household size.

At the Robin Hood Benefit 2026 this past Monday, more than 4,000 New Yorkers gathered at the Javits Center to support the fight against poverty—raising an incredible $73 million and counting. 💙

During the evening, Robin Hood saluted our very own Executive Director, Sister Caroline Tweedy for her belief that every New Yorker deserves to be fed with dignity.

For decades, she has turned that belief into action—helping provide thousands of meals each week to neighbors across our community.
