Congradulations on your medals, Katie! All of your hard work paid off!

Katie Armstrong has spent 15 years as a Special Olympics athlete, but she only began powerlifting five years ago. Nonetheless, the Brookings resident won three gold medals and a silver medal at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games this summer.

The Division of Developmental Disabilities has asked us to invite you to join them for upcoming National Core Indicators (NCI) Listening Sessions where they will review the results from the 2024–2025 NCI surveys. These sessions are an opportunity for them to share what they learned from the data and to discuss how the information helps guide system improvements across their supports and services. (All sessions will cover the same material, so you only need to attend one.)

They especially want people who receive services and their families to understand how their participation directly shapes the changes they make. Whether someone completed the survey this year or not, these sessions will help everyone see the important role NCI data plays in improving our system.

They look forward to the conversation and to learning together.

We've been working with the team at designArc the past year designing an addition and rennovations to our main building at 301 Division Ave. We've partnered with Mills Construction to turn the plans into reality and are excited to see the project take shape over the coming year! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1LusnVAoif/

Mills Construction is excited to get another great project underway! The Advance HQ project will add much-needed office space, renovate OT/PT areas and restrooms, and provide other building improvements. We’re proud to partner with Advance again and look forward to getting started! 👏

I am sad to share with you all that Kristen Schlobohm passed away yesterday. For the past 49 years, Kristen has been a valued member of the Advance family. We are grateful for the time we had with her and will miss her. Please remember Kristen’s family, friends, and the many staff members who supported her over the years in your thoughts and prayers.

Visitation will be this Thursday (August 27th) at Rude’s Funeral Home from 4pm to 6pm. A memorial/funeral service will then start at 6pm.
