So. Many. Books! 📚

You don't want to miss this sale; our volunteers are getting ready to unbox more books than ever before!

Join us Wednesday for our Friends Welcoming Night, starting at 5:30 p.m. If you're not already a Friend of the Brookings Public Library, you can join us with a suggested $10 donation at the door.

We can't wait to see you and help all these books find great new homes!

Next week's book sale is bound to be a good one based on the overwhelming amount of donations we've received! 👀📚 Please hold off on donating any more until November 1st!

Please help share the word! Beginning tomorrow, we're putting a pause on accepting donations for a couple of weeks!

The donation storage room is at maximum capacity for the Fall Book Sale, and we'll be keeping the space clear to have the flooring replaced at the same time.

We'll accept donations again beginning Sunday, November 1.

We appreciate your support and understanding!! ❤

Brookings Public Library needs your support.

The Brookings County Commission is considering a change in how the county supports library access for residents who live outside Brookings city limits. The proposed voucher system would require individuals to pay for their library card up front and then seek reimbursement from the county.

The Friends of the Brookings Public Library oppose this change. We believe it creates an unnecessary barrier to a public resource that serves people throughout Brookings County.

If you agree, we encourage you to make your voice heard. Attend the Brookings County Commission meeting on Tuesday, August 18 at 8:30 a.m. on the third floor of the City & County Building. Arrive early to sign up for public comment.

If you’re unable to attend, contact your county commissioners and let them know you oppose the voucher system and support continued library access for residents throughout Brookings County.

Our library serves our community far beyond the city limits. Help us keep library access free and accessible for all of Brookings County.

Some of the new additions purchased from our $20,000 donation in April have recently hit the Brookings Public Library floor and shelves:

• A new rug for the junior area
• Rocker chairs for kids
• Rolling storage cabinets
• New bookends
• And other helpful updates throughout the library

Seeing the visible impact of our donations on the library is so rewarding. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us and the library!📚

With $7,400 raised at the spring book sale, combined with additional donations from the past few months, we’re happy to share that the Friends of the Library were able to contribute over $20,000 back to the Brookings Public Library!

The library provided a list of current needs, and we were able to support programming and the purchase of new tables, bookends, technology like launch pads, and more.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and attended the sale. Your support continues to make a meaningful difference for our library and the community it serves.
