Join Us in Making a Difference!

On 20 June, We will be coming together again with our friends Brookhaven Free Library for the Essential Items Drive to support neighbors in need throughout our community.

Friends the need is great. In fact the Federal Reserve Bank of New York reported that Food insecurity is rising! Our partners in Feeding ministries have confirmed that they are seeing more people in need.

Every donation—whether it's food, clothing, personal care products, toiletries, cleaning supplies, or toilet paper and paper towels—can make a meaningful impact on the lives of local families facing hardship.

This is a wonderful opportunity to turn compassion into action and help ensure that everyone has access to the basic necessities they deserve.

Together, we can strengthen our community one donation at a time. Please consider contributing and help us spread the word by sharing this post!

Matthew 9:37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

As we settle into the long green season after Pentecost, the people of St. James remain deeply engaged in the work of ministry and service.

This week, our parishioners gathered donations for our Super Cereal Second Sunday food collection. Pictured are some of the breakfast items generously contributed to help our neighbors in need. Valerie admires a few of the beautiful creations made by the talented hands of our parish community for the Seamen's Church Institute Christmas at Sea Program, while Ted installs the sign for this Saturday’s Essential Items Drive.

St. James may be a small congregation, but we have a big heart for our community. Recent reports have highlighted the growing challenge of food insecurity across our region, a reality faced by many of our neighbors every day.

You can help make a difference.

Join us and our friends on Saturday, 20 June, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for our Essential Items Drive. We are collecting food, clothing, cleaning supplies, diapers, wipes, and other everyday necessities for those who need them most.

Jesus reminds us that the harvest is plentiful and the work is ongoing. We invite you to partner with us as we seek to bring hope, compassion, and the kingdom of heaven near to those in need.

On this day, as the United States pauses to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation, we pray for the souls of all who gave their lives in its defense. As we honor their courage and sacrifice, may we also pray for the wisdom and grace to build a lasting peace for our entire human family — a world in which such sacrifices are no longer required.

O Judge of the nations, we remember before you with grateful hearts the men and women of our country who in the day of decision ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy. Grant that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines. This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. BCP p. 839

Blessings to you on Pentecost 🕊️🔥! We had a wonderful Sunday at St. James ⛪️, where even the rain felt like a shower of blessings during this morning's worship.

Afterward, we kicked off our Seamen's Church Institute Christmas at Sea program during Fellowship Hour. The leadership team shared how the small actions we take on a local level make a massive impact for seafarers away from home during the holidays.

From time to time, materials connected to various campaigns are placed adjacent to our property. The appearance of such items so close to the church may give the wrong impression. St. James does not endorse or oppose any initiative or candidate. We have placed a sign to state this fact.

On this beautiful Spring day, some of our parishioners came together to care for the church grounds. The raised garden bed was cleaned and prepared for our small gardening project, weeding was completed around the property, and the lilacs were carefully trimmed to grace the altar for tomorrow’s service. We are deeply grateful for the many hands and generous gifts of time and talent that help us faithfully steward and beautify our church.
